Pros | + Interesting gameplay + Unique-ish story + Good soundtrack + Neat enemies |
Cons | - A bit hard to get used to - Some of the graphics are a bit lacking |
Gameplay 7 / 10 |
The gameplay is... interesting. It's definitely among the best "Mario with a gun" games I've seen since you get to do more with your gun than just shooting the enemies, but it's also a bit hard to get used to. The fact that Mario shoots in the direction he's facing rather than the direction the mouse is in definitely led me to more than a few deaths. One thing I especially appreciate is the amount of gameplay variation. Never thought I'd help Mario transport nuclear waste with a sub. The story is pretty neat. I wish there was a little more to it, but the way it's presented with the text cutscenes is cool and surprisingly unique for a fangame. |
Graphics 7 / 10 |
A decent mixture of ripped and self-made graphics. You can definitely tell which graphics were self-made, and a lot of them definitely leave something to be hoped, but some of them are actually pretty neat. I like most of the enemy sprites in particular. Never thought about how much I needed Gangster Pokey in my life until I played this game. |
Sound 8 / 10 |
Most of the soundtrack and sound effects are solid, though their audio quality is sometimes a bit wack. |

It's not without flaws, but that doesn't mean it's not worth playing. |
