Pros | + 3D Models have some decent quality even if it's over something that's out of fashion + Fancy shadows |
Cons | - Poor presentation - Like Hello's first 3D Mario game, the physics is not much different - Slightly improved graphics but still not as polished as people expected - Some part are near impossible to beat - Weird/awkward dialogues |
Gameplay 1 / 10 |
Hello claim that he has "improved" the physics for this game. When I tried to play it, there's not much difference compared to his first game. When people asks what really improved, Hello's being very vague about it. Even if he tried to "fix" the physics, it still feel like walking on a field of butter with your pinkie. The best solution is to back to the drawing board and rework on the physics. "Slippery-ness" is fine but it needs a serious amount of tune down to make the game more playable. The levels are not so well designed. Some part rely more on luck than strategy due to the game's broken physics. For a quick example, is it really a good idea for making a box pushing minigame but the boxes have semi-realistic physics and it randomly flip/slide? Most people would find this very frustrating. I wish Hello would break his pattern of not taking feedbacks and take note on these issues to get them resolved for their future games. |
Graphics 2 / 10 |
Maybe some slight improvements on the eyecandies compared to Hello's last 2 3D Mario fan games but that's the end of the line. Everything still feel almost the same and stale. Animation are not so fluid or it ends abruptly like the smashed brick blocks. What makes it worse is a collection of fan arts that don't have matching styles. I am not a fan of mixing styles and using fan arts as dialogues, they felt very out of place. It would be far better to draw and have a set of arts with matching styles. The shadows are the decent part. But some part you have troubling seeing because it's too dark. |
Sound 2 / 10 |
The music style unfortunately felt very out of place for the context of the game. It is suitable in a setting like a club party. Most of the sounds are all right but it is starting to feel repetitive to the point they are the 3D standards of cookie cutter games. Try to look for audio outside of Mario games, there are some quality sounds a lot of people don't get to hear that often give people a fresh input to their ears. Also, why does Bowsette sounds like regular Bowser? I understand that this represents Bowser but it's unsettling. |

The quarantine sure breaks everyone down. Despite the biased review I have left earlier, this game needs a serious tune up to be at least more tolerable. |

The fact that negative review scores are even allowed or possible on this website is a joke. Not to mention that many of your grievances with the game, although constructive sometimes, do not warrant such low scores. -5 to gameplay? And then mentioning you don't like the character and how to find better memes in the gameplay section. I thought MFGG had Quality Control on reviews too. |
