Pros | + Solid effort for a 2004 game + Good music and graphics |
Cons | - WAY too many leaps of faith - Unforgiving with the amount of lives |
Gameplay 4 / 10 |
The engine used is surprisingly decent, especially for 2004. On the other hand, the level design is mostly pretty boring. There aren't any gimmicks or anything, and it's mostly just jumping over enemies and spike pits. The biggest problem with the game, however, and the one that ultimately made me quit midway through, is that there are WAY too many leaps of faith. It's one thing to have a leap of faith with no possible failure state, another thing to have one with enemies patrolling around the landing spot, and an entirely different thing to have instadeath spikes there. Not fun. Not fun at all. This isn't helped by the fact that you start with a meager three lives and getting more is near-impossible, as there are very few coins in the levels and the only 1-UP Mushroom I saw was surrounded by spikes (which, again, instantly kill). |
Graphics 8 / 10 |
The graphics are decent. I like that ShyGuy182 used the best Mario sprite ever. |
Sound 8 / 10 |
The music is pretty good. Surprisingly for an early 2000's game, it's not just a collection of the most generic Mario midis known to man. |

A Hardcore Gamerâ„¢ (or someone studying fangame history) might get something out of this game, but for the average joe, it doesn't offer much. |
