Pros | + Not a bad concept + It's kind of different I guess? + Luigi + Not a bad game overall |
Cons | - The engine really didn't age well, it really feels janky - The physics are still hgnhhngghnasdsadas - Gets a bit boring after a while - Same old graphics once again |
Gameplay 6 / 10 |
You play as Luigi, collecting "Golden Shrooms". It's kind of structured like a metroidvania, with more open and less linear level design. This also means that the whole map screen and level structure is gone. This sounds like a nice change of pace, and I like it as an idea, but it doesn't really affect the overall gameplay a ton. Sure, the focus is now finding and collecting golden shrooms but their placement isn't really that clever and the lack of a proper level structure makes the game feel like it's dragggggging ooooonnnnnnnnnnn. The level design itself doesn't feel any different than other Hello games of the era too. Same with the physics, though I guess the slipperiness kinda makes sense here since we are playing as Luigi now, which is nice I suppose. |
Graphics 4 / 10 |
Black Squirrel's tiles: Check SMB3 sprites and backgrounds: Check Icegoom's enemy sprites: Check Yeah, this game doesn't look bad as a standalone game, but like there's nothing that distinguishes how this game looks from other Hello games from the same era. It looks pretty much the same. |
Sound 5 / 10 |
The music in general, while a bit low quality, is good. The sound effects are pretty much the same as rest of Hello's games though, including those annoying voice clips. |

It's... yet another Hello game, just with a slightly more unique concept this time. |
