It was a day like any other in the Skybound Isles when a dark mass arose from the clouds that separated the forgotten and dangerous world below from the home of the dragons above. General Mechos, a powerful military leader of the humans launched an attack on the floating islands and abducted the dragoness Crystal for reasons unknown.

Flame, a trainee knight and Crystal's best friend, travels to the forgotten kingdom of Mineria having sworn to find her and put an end to whatever plot General Mechos has planned. On his journey, Flame will face incredible dangers, discover more about the kingdom of Mineria, why the dragons were separated from the earth to live in the sky, and discover his own destiny.

What started as a simple project for a class in school has developed into my first indie game! I've posted a few gifs and short video snippets of this over the last couple years but I'm finally ready to release a demo ^^ It's inspired by games such as Shovel Knight, Zelda 2, and Megaman.

The game ultimately features world exploration, sidequests, light RPG elements, 16 different weapons/spells to use, challenging bosses, a beautiful original 8-bit soundtrack composed by EliteFerrex, and more.

I hope you all will enjoy what you see c:

11/26/21  • Fixed a glitch where the game would crash on first-run, but would work fine after restarting the .exe
• Fixed a softlock glitch in the autoscroll segment of Khevari desert
• Added a new mechanic that allows grenades to be deflected back
10/23/21  • Fixed a bug where MP would [i]appear[/i] to not upgrade after upgrading it
• Re-balanced SP requirements for some stat upgrades
• Made the stat upgrades option easier to find in the Stats menu

Demo version 1.3 is currently in the queue!

V1.3 contains a number of small bug fixes, balance adjustments, and QOL adjustments.

A mini review/first impressions: So far there is so much that's like-able and solid about this game! It seems like something you should eventually release under your real name or a studio name honestly, not just a Mario-related username. I enjoy the Sonic sort of feel to the intro sequence, with these cartoony forest characters facing a cold industrial threat. And from the beginning, I'm really digging the gameplay and attention to detail. It has a great Shovel Knight-y balance between platforming (love that you can kill enemies just by jumping on them) and Metroidvania + action RPG. It feels natural and flows in a fun way. Also, the invisible walls exploding when you hit them are dope, and I love all the other little animations, like the ghosts that pop out of dead enemies. Lots of fun details, and overall that's a very good thing. :)

This game is mad cool and the music is sick! I kinda wish it had a Kirby running mechanic or something similar in addition to the dash mechanic. I also think it'd be cool if the game's controls worked with keyboard as well as controller if both are plugged in, but tbf I didn't mess with the options at all, though I guess this could be used to a cheating advantage, idk.

You can play with a keyboard if a controller is plugged in btw. Pause the game, go to the settings menu (the cog icon), and select View Controls. From here, press CTRL.

For some reason the updates log cut off some of the updates that 1.4.1 has

• Added a one-time tutorial that explains how to upgrade your stats after leveling up. This has been a common source of confusion
• Added the ability to level up/reduce cooldown time of your dodges, and also added a dodge cooldown indicator
• Minor balance adjustments

is my mana upgrading? in the Stats menu it doesn't show any progress even tho i upgraded it with my points. Mana: 1/8

Can you send me a gif of you upgrading your Mana and the menu not changing? I'll be able to help more quickly and release a patch if this is the case. Also your MP bar doesn't get bigger when you upgrade your MP, it only decreases the cost of spells. There are items hidden in the overworld that make your MP bar larger.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind, I just checked this myself. You MP IS upgrading, but there's a glitch that is causing the number not to update. There is another update in the queue for version 1.4.2 which addresses this bug and a few others.

Hate to say it, but it won't be coming out. I scrapped the chapter system I originally planned way back around 2016 or so xP
