A super Mario fan game, it's one of my games that tests a 2D isometric engine on Game maker. The graphics of the game is from Super Mario RPG on SNES, well mostly, i have only limited sprites at that time. You join Mario in his adventure in this isometric platform adventure. sadly this game is discontinued since 2003, reasons: Game is too difficult and already made a better engine. This game is for all Mario fans out there and those who wanna try 2D isometric platform adventure game play. This was done on older GM 4.3 version. I only finished 4 levels though. have fun

Um... I tried it, but how am I supposed to fix the fountain?

If you see a red arrow pointing south (outside castle), look for any unusual parts. Hopefully you will be able to figure out the rest.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot about Read Me.
(I'm not going to tell you everything, because I don't want to ruin it for everyone else)

darthjaiz, The game is a really cool concept, and it's physics are really well done. I hope to see more from you, because I like what you are doing. :)

Thanks, Yep you'll see more from me. i have an upcoming mario game similar to this. with much better engine and playable for kids. this one is too hard. but i have only mario RPG at that time when i created it. so the movements and physics and speed of mario is much like Mario RPG on the SNES. The controls may not be easy enough for the new age gamers.
This sucks. This REALLY sucks. Mario's too freaking squeamish around enemies and you have to be pressing both the WSAD controls and arrow key controls to get on most all platforms. And Mario DOESN'T JUMP HIGH ENOUGH. AND THE ENEMIES SHOULDN'T CHASE HIM @.@ Good grief this is hard...
I included two controls for movements, as some keyboards are limited in pressing buttons simultaneously. you have to press speed+jump+diagonal movement too. so thats 4 buttons. maybe it doesn't support your keyboard the way i mapped my controls.
Ah, I get it now. I won't say more. Not bad, not bad at all. Nice way to make a 3D game using the Game Maker--! I thought that was only possible with the 7.0 version! But yeah, cool!

I have a regular QWERTY keyboard. And I never found a 'speed' key. *edit* Ah, shoot, I forgot to unzip the readme, nevermind.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was thinking of the isometric ball tutorial. the very first one, i did not know about this example.
This Mario demo game was already finished(2003) when that post was created(2005), my game was developed in GM4.3 version. and that example was created using GM6. so i did not edit that example.

I love how it looks like Super Mario 64! I read that the graphics are from Super Mario RPG, but are there also custom made graphics? (Super Mario 64-like)
It's really difficult to jump to small platforms but it looks so nice that I want to keep playing anyway. The melody in course 1 sounds really nice and nostalgic, but I must admit the blow-whistle in course 2 tires the ears out a bit. Anyway, I like the game, probably more than I would like Super Mario RPG.

*EDIT* Lemme rephrase this. It's cute but annoying. I love the SM64-ish theme.
Accurate rephrase, I agree, even if it's annoying in a slightly challenging way, which keeps me playing so far.

Yes, Some of the sprites are custom sprites made by me. I did'nt really played SMRPG because i did'nt like the gameplay, I just played it for few hours just to get some sprites. The difficulty of the game also lengthens the gameplay time lol. Yeah, I agree with you, even now i'm still having fun with this abandoned game, i play it sometimes when i'm bored.
When Bowser came out the pipe I jumped back in the pipe and Mario got stuck.
Oh, sorry, Just don't go back. I have different versions of my demo, that pipe was supposed to be a warp to stage 5 when you have 4 stars. But I haven't finished making level 5. Maybe I'll update this minor problem.
Not bad but please my only big complain is that when you die you don`t start with full health you start with the same health as you entered the level with wich means if you loose almost all your life in the battle right before the first level you might as well give up, and the fact that there is nothing ton heal you with in that level (so far as i consider don`t make it anny easyer i know it`s mean to be challenging but this is just unfair.

theres a mushroom in the second room of level one, watch my youtube video for the mushrooms location. This game will stay as is, its an abandoned game and not meant for a complete version release.
