General Commentary and Game Overview
Yaaaaaawn...the sun is rising out there, so I have to get up, brush my teeth, and take a shower. After taking a shower, I went to the calender, looks like today is August 25, which is just another normal day.

After getting something to eat, I got a ride on the train to the galaxy of Mario fan games. At the moment I had took my steps on Mario Fan Games Galaxy, I had noticed there is a festival, which appears to be celebrating the (almost) 10th anniversary of the release of his first fan game (which is Mario's Egg, I think).

In the festival, there are cakes that are made after Hello's emblem, magazines of Hello Power that hold tips and hints to help players progress on Hello's games, a large swimming pool that is shaped after Hello's emblem, toy Yoshi tanks, and more.

Taking a look at the time schedule board, it seems that a field trip to the world of Hello Fangaming Collection begins soon...

Well, what are you waiting for? Let's hop into the Hello bus (wow, almost everything in the festival is Hello-fied, right?), as we are going to take a look at Hello Fangaming Collection!

Gameplay
3 / 10
Parking at a grassy island, it seems that the world of Hello Fangaming Collection contains some levels that are taken from various different games Hello has released from 2006 to 2016 (well, it seems that most of Mario and Luigi's adventures in the Hello universe take place in the world we are at now). Also, there are a few towns, which, we'll take a visit to them later.

Entering the cherry grove, I kind of enjoyed the level design here. There's even a floating disc (which, we'll talk about that later) in a area in the cherry grove, which can be only reached by using a propeller block.

Though, there is obviously a problem, which can be also seen in most of Hello's other games. If you going through all of the field trips that are about a game made by Hello, you should able to know what I'm talking about. If not, then here's what the problem is. It's the same thing, and what I mean by the same thing, is that there isn't anything really new. Really, there isn't any new gimmicks, no new enemies, the same powerups, and more.
Unfortunately, whenever Hello makes a new game, he'll usually go by the "golden" rule, which reads as:

"When you make a fangame, you have to clone various elements from many different Mario games. You CAN add some new features, but BE sure to clone a whole lot elements from a variety of different Mario games. Really, screw creativity, (most of the) early fangames from the 2000s is where it's at!"

Okay, before we progress on in our field trip, I'm gonna write down a letter, which will be for Hello. The letter I'm writing right now, reads as it follows:

"Dear Hello,

I know that you are an advanced GML programmer, but here is a suggestion I have. Try to be creative, and what I mean by trying to be creative, is that try to come up as much as new ideas that you can use for your platformer games (or any game that is NOT a minigame). Okay, you had a few neat ideas in some of your games, especially in Super Mario Eclipse, but it would be nice if you could make something that is as creative as something like in Yoshi Tanks again. I know that you have the potential to create a very good game, but you just decided to not do it, and instead make some Hello clones that have just a few new features added into them.

Also, PLEASE don't throw this into the garbage, considering it as hatred mail. I'M trying to help you, and I bet that as people were happy to see your Yoshi Tanks game, I bet they would be really happy (myself included) to see you create a full-fledged Mario fangame that has as much as creativity as Yoshi Tanks (or more creativity than Yoshi Tanks).

From Q-Nova."

Well, once I get back home, I'll definitely put the letter in Hello's mailbox. Anyway, let's check out that one village over there, shall we? In this village, it seems that people talk about Hello Fangaming in general. After talking to some Toads, I have noticed something odd about them. These aren't Toads, they are actually robots, and what I mean by robots is that they have little to no soul in them. Though, Mario and Luigi aren't as bad as these Toads when it comes to characterization and communication skills, right?

Oh hey, I saw Mario over there! He seems to be talking to a Toad right now, though.

"The first game Hello Fangaming submitted to MFGG was called Mario's Journey, and was a basic Mario sidescroller made using Trisoft's engine. Back then, Hello Fangaming had no programming experience whatsoever, but some additions were still made to the engine. For example, the springs were duplicated from the Goomba object, and the code that makes it move and hurt Mario was cut out.

Programming something for the first time feels good, right?" said the Toad.

"Mama mia!" said Mario.

W-w-w-what the? Did Mario say "Mama mia"? Oh great, I thought Mario would've improved his own commutation skills a little bit after the chaos of Super Mario Dynamo, but no! He's just the same! Worse, Mario seems to usually say "Mama mia" or "Oh no" to the Toads? What the hello is this?!

After a few deep breaths, I would like to confirm that it seems that Mario usually thinks that the way the Toads talk is negative. Heck, Mario got all upset when that one Toad had said that Hello had made switched from using Ultramario's engine to his own engine. Okay, considering that the way Luigi communicates with Mario was okay, his communication shouldn't be as worse as Mario's, ri-

"Oh no!"
"Mama mia!"
"Okie dokie!"
"Woohoo, just what I needed!"

No, not Luigi too! How could his communication skills gotten worse? I guess that Luigi has taken a curse that Mario has supposedly taken. Yes, it's a curse that limits your speech into just a few words. Oh! It looks Mario is about to talk to Luigi. I wonder how they'll communi-

"Hey there bro! Did you know that Hello Fangaming Collection does not have an actual end?"

"Oh no!"

"But no worries! You can make beating all of the levels, or even collecting all the discs your goal!"

Uh, what? Okay, at one point, Luigi could only speak a few words, but now he is able to speak about over ten words! What the hello is this all about? Also, I had discovered one thing. Mario's communication seems to be as good as the Toads if you are playing as Luigi, while Luigi will be able to only speak a few words.

Well, I think I have figured why is this happening. This is because the Mario Bros were just using some scripts, which was (not too well) written by Hello, of course. Hello didn't seem to care about Mario and Luigi's character, as the bros will simply swap their scripts most of time, when it comes to switching places (one would be played by the player, while the other one would be just an NPC).

"Mama mia!"

Uh, I think it's about time that we get away from this village, as it's getting a little spooky here, due to how robotic these NPCs are.

"Oh no!"

Whew! Thank nova we are out of that village. Though, I would like to note that there is some little puzzles in that village, which, completing them will reward you a disc. Anyway, how about we go that desert island over there? Well, once we get through the forest island, that is. Going through all of these levels, they are actually enjoyable, especially if you had never played a Hello game before. The difficultly curve is nice too, as the first levels you would go to are easy, and the last levels in most of the islands are a bit hard.

Say, how about we take a visit to Greeting Gamers City, shall we? I mean, it seems more promising than that one village we had visi-

"Out of Hello Fangaming's difficult games, the best one is definitely Super Mario Dynamo! That game has just the right amount of difficultly, and never gets hard enough to make me give up! Of course, that is to be expected, as this game's levels were thoroughly tested, and any unfair sections that may have existed were removed!"

What? Uh, okay, you've got to be joking! If you are not joking, then how about you explain to me how is the wall jumping sections in the first level fair? Really, in the first level, you will have to wall jump above the floor, which is okay. BUT, soon, you'll be forced to wall jump above a BOTTOMLESS pit. It's as if Hello thought the player would instantly master the wall jumping ability just after using it for a single time! After doing the second wall jump, you'll have to do a few wall jumps above the floor, BUT, then you'll have to do a lot of wall jumping above a bottomless pit. Not only you'll be wall jumping over a bottomless pit, but you'll have to be FAST, and avoid those Piranha Plants, that are popping out of the pipes that you are wall jumping off of. I don't think this is fair, I think it's rather unfair.

Wait a minute, is that the police over there? Did someone broke a law, or they are dri-

"Halt! You are under arrest for breaking this law: never say anything negative about Hello's latest works."

Wow, no wonder why that Toad was outright LYING! Though, I think we better run, because those police Toads are after us!

Huff, huff. We've been through three levels, and I can still hear the police sirens, and I don't think I have the energy to run anymore! Oh no! Wait a minute, is that a warp pipe over there? Let's hide inside there! Whew! I hope the police won't find us in this pipe. Wait, is that Rosalina over there?

"Beyond this point lies Cloud Island. The levels here require you to collect shines."

Well, it looks like the pipe over there would take us to Cloud Island. I'm not sure if the police are still looking for me or not, but how about we take a look Cloud Island, shall we?

At the moment I had entered the first level, I noticed something at the bottom-right corner. Can you guess what it is? It is the Shine Sprites! Not only you'll see Shine Sprites at the bottom-right corner, but there seems to be a special gimmick here, which is also seen in the other levels at Cloud Island. The gimmick requires you to collect all of the Shine Sprites in order to finish the level. You'll have to use ON/OFF blocks, which makes blocks that are their color disappear and vice versa.

Well, after going through all of those Cloud Island levels, I guess that's it.

Overall, it's just another Hello clone that has a few new features (with some of them being taken from Hello's previous games). Though, let's look at the graphics now, shall we?

Graphics
3 / 10
Well, if you've been in all of Hello's other games, I think it should be pretty obvious what the graphics are. SMB3 graphics. Really, Hello? It's been ten years since the release of your first fangame, and you are still using the overused SMB3 graphics? Also, I noticed that you are still using Shikaternia's tileset, which is underused, but I think it would be a nice change of pace if you used a different tileset now. Oh, and not only you have used Shikaternia's tileset, but I've noticed that those Triangular Blocks were taken from Black Squirrel's tileset, which is overused in Hello's games.

Rosalina's mugshot is an edit of Peach's mugshot, and I have noticed a problem with it. Her hair is not covering one of her eyes! I guess Rosalina got a little hair cut while she's talking to the Mario Bros.

Alright, now let's take a look at the lights, and wow.....they are so bright. They are so bright, that it could possibly hurt someones eyes. Also, in some areas, the lights seem unnecessary. Really, who would put the lamps on at daytime? Sadly, though, Hello has gotten super addicted to these lights, once he had seen them for the first time. He got so addicted, that he decided to put in them every level, even if they are necessary or not.

Hello, if I were you, I would only put the lights on nighttime and dark areas.

Sound
6 / 10
Well, the music sounds really nice! Though, a couple areas seem to have the wrong music, like the one Greeting Gamers City. I don't see how would rock 'n' roll-like underground music would fit in a city that's in a desert, which contains hardcore gamers. At least the music's better than Dynamo's music, as that game uses mostly death metal-remixes of existing Mario music, which doesn't really fit for a dark game.

The sounds are what you would expect them to be. It's just some SMAS sounds, which are overused. Why can't you use some NSMB Wii sounds, or you could use sounds from a non-Mario game (really, I'm sure there a lot of different sound packs out there, which would fit for a Mario fangame).

As with most of Hello's games, there are voice effects that are from SMA4. It would've been nice if there is an option to turn them off, as they can get annoying soon. Though, you could also have multiple voice effects for most of the actions.

Replay
4 / 10
Well, once you create a new file, you can pick either Mario or Luigi. Though, there barely seems to be anything different about them, gameplay-wise. Though, there a few dialogue lines that can exclusively read if you play as one of the two bros.

Also, each level has one disc, which contains information about a game made by Hello. However, they'll feel pointless soon, as the Toads will talk about Hello's games a lot.

Oh, and there is a area in Greeting Gamers City, which can be only accessed if you have at least two thousand coins. I won't try to spoil what's in the area, but I'll just say that you'll unlock an optional mode. Though, there doesn't seem to be any reward for beating it, nor there is anything really special found in it.

There are a couple levels, which contains at least two different paths, which allows some players to replay them, just to try out the other path.

Final Words
3 / 10
You would probably rather say goodbye to the collection, rather than hello.

Ha ha. This is one of the most creative reviews I've ever seen. It's like a fan-fiction spliced with a game review.

"... Really, screw creativity, (most of the) early fangames from the 2000s is where it's at!"

Ha ha, I find it interesting that I find most fangames from the early 2000s to be not so creative back then. I guess that's what happens when I didn't play so much old fangames at that time. It really shows you how much a person change overtime. :)
