Pros | - Very unique, relative to most of Hello's other games - Great aesthetic - Pretty effects - Smooth gameplay - Neat music - Clever story |
Cons | - Extremely hard level design - Poor difficulty curve - Overused art style - SMB3 style map |
Gameplay 5 / 10 |
While there are a few twists here and there, the gameplay really is just Hello Engine's. There is a mix of elements from Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World. The largest difference is probably that there is a health system instead of a power-up system (health is regained by grabbing mushrooms, but they are far and few between). You start out with a powerup at the start of some levels, which is a great gimmick in concept! Unfortunately, there aren't really any custom enemies or other gameplay elements outside of Hello Engine. Overall, though... it's pretty boring gameplay. |
Graphics 7 / 10 |
This is kind of tough. The sprites themselves are extremely boring, but there are a number of unique tilesets, and a lighting shader overlayed. But with these rose-tinted windows removed, the graphics are very dull and predictable. |
Sound 8 / 10 |
These are actually pretty good! The SFX are all in Hello Engine, but as usual, there are some really cool remixes of notable Mario tunes. |
Replay 5 / 10 |
Well, I've played the game MANY times to try and get further in, but if I ever do complete the game, I highly doubt I would ever play it again. |

If it wasn't so hard, it would be pretty fun. But sadly, no amount of pretty effects can cover up the lacking gameplay elements. |
