Pros | + Well-animated NSMB graphics + Interesting puzzle game + Comes with a level editor |
Cons | - Sounds don't play very often - All music is MIDI, none of which is particularly impressive |
Gameplay 8 / 10 |
Gameplay and level design are pretty solid for this game. It's a puzzle game, of course, so if you aren't too fond of those you might not be too fond of this game. However, there are a few aspects that can be unforgiving. For example, the hitboxes for piranha plants seem to be a bit too large, which is a bit unfair as you seemingly maneuver your Bob-omb past one and it explodes anyway. |
Graphics 10 / 10 |
Consistent use of NSMB graphics, which you don't see in every fan game, so that's nice. Everything seems pretty well animated, too, so I can't really complain at all in this department. |
Sound 5 / 10 |
The entire soundtrack is full of MIDIs of varying quality. Unfortunately they are only okay at best, and pretty poor at worst. Virtually nothing was original, remixed or rearranged, which is unfortunate. Sound effects are fine, if a bit infrequent. It would be really great to have some ambient sound or something going on besides MIDIs 99% of the time. |
Replay 8 / 10 |
The game comes with a level editor, which is pretty great as puzzle games can have very poor replay value (as you already know all the solutions upon playing again). |

Certainly worth a look if you like puzzle games. |
