Pros | + Same addictive gameplay + Local highscores + Different level themes...* |
Cons | - Same old graphics - Clashing graphics - No music - Boring and unpolished UI - *...but lacking variety |
Gameplay 4 / 10 |
Same old Flappy Bird gameplay. If you like Flappy Bird, you're probably also gonna like this game. This one probably even has the better hitbox, but given how terrible Flappy Bird's hitbox was, that's not a huge accomplishment. Unfortunately, Mario is always in the middle of the screen, which limits the time frame in which you can react to upcoming pipes. All in all, it works but it's not special either, so it's hard to give an appopriate score. I wanted to hand out exactly the golden mean of scores, but 1 point deducted because of the camera. |
Graphics 2 / 10 |
Same old SMB3 and M&L SS graphics. Not horrible to look at, but definitely not a highlight, either. The SS style kinda clashes with the SMB3 style, too. There's simple backgrounds with no added tiles or anything, just like the original Flappy Bird, and thus, it feels just as lifeless. The ground for some reason is the same graphic throughout all level themes - just recolored. The UI sadly also has no effort put into it. A transparent rectangle with a black font writing to it. |
Sound 2 / 10 |
No music. A few sound effects, but given how there's like one thing you can do, there's not a whole lot of sound effects that could've been there to begin with. |
Replay 2 / 10 |
Flappy Bird is known for its replay value. But given how there's thousands of clones out there, why would you replay this one exactly? Nothing stands out from the rest of the clones, so I can't give it a high score here. |

Flappy Bird with Mario sprites. Nothing more, nothing less. |

Thank you for this review! I appreciate that this review approaches the game for what it is, and I do find myself agreeing with many of the points you made, especially the one concerned with Mario's placement on the screen. A few of the points, such as lack of sound effects (although not much to be done either way, like you said) and music, and the graphics clashing, were made by the others and I agree with them too. I'll be updating the game in my free time to fix these. Please re-review after I do so?

Quite the hypocrisy there, I must say. |
