Cons | -characters move slow -no animation, few visual effects -clunky character controls -no gamepad support |
Gameplay 4 / 10 |
This unfortunately where the game is most lacking. Even in 150cc I find that everyone sort of just chugs along at a snail's pace. Even though the speedometer says I'm going 100mph, it sure doesn't feel like it. I'm glad that there are a lot of courses to choose from and plenty of items to keep things from getting to monotonous. When characters are damaged, they do a slow spin, screaming "oh well I guess I was hit". This game needs a fuel injection to get its blood pumping. |
Graphics 6 / 10 |
While the character models are fully textured, they don't animate at all and it takes a lot away from the game. There are few visual effects, making the game come off as a bit lifeless. One course I played did have rain and that was nice. HUD and UI look great but the actual 3D parts leave a lot to be desired. |
Sound 10 / 10 |
Sound selection is pretty alright. Music from various Mario games and some voice clips exclusively from Mario Kart I think. I can't play with the sound too loud so I couldn't really hear unfortunately. |
Replay 5 / 10 |
I assume you need to beat some of the grand prix cups to unlock the last four characters, which is a nice touch. It gives the player something to do after beating the game. |

It feels more like a tech demo than a fully fleshed out game. There are so many courses but the snail's pace gameplay didn't entice me to want to get past the first few tracks. |
