General Commentary and Game Overview

This game makes the official version look just as good as Super Mario 64!!! There are many things that are lacking to be a Hotel Mario game.

Pros

The only few pros of this game is that there is good enough graphics, and the controls respond better than the CD-i version.

Cons

SO MANY CONS. Graphics are randomly placed, very few levels, items are supposed to come out of doors rather than just leaving a fire flower in the corner, you change forms in the next level, NONE of the levels are based off the real one, very few enemies, rarely any reference from the original, no door shutting animation, enemies are supposed to come out of the doors rather than just closing the doors themselves, mostly repeated music, tiny Mario isn't even in the CD-i version, the ending is just some glitched up Mario and Luigi doing some victory poses, Princess Peach isn't mentioned at all, at the end of the levels you just run into the last door rather than having Mario doing a little victory dance and having the game sum up the points, and to top it all off, this is only about 5%-10% of the REAL version.

Impressions

Gameplay 3 / 10	At least this version still has some good Mario gameplay. I would give it a 10 if it were more like the CD-I version.
Graphics 7 / 10	Now the graphics aren't too bad, but some of the tiles are randomly placed, and some doors don't even look like doors.
Sound 4 / 10	Ok, the quality isn't too bad, but the only music in this game is a SNES style Hotel Mario title and what sounds like some ripped Bowser's Castle music.
Replay 1 / 10	No. Just no. I'd give the replay a 0, but they won't let you do that!!! It's as horrible as the CD-i one!

Final Words

I guess the Mario-like gameplay is polished, the sound needs more variety, and things just need to be fixed. Just go get the real one on emulator and compare it to this one. I'll let you think about it.
