General Commentary and Game Overview
Princess Quest is an Action-Adventure game with a few RPG mechanics. You control Mario, Luigi and other characters to discover secrets and progress the story.

The story kept me interested from start to finish, and I'm generally not a person who pays too much attention to stories from Mario or Mario fangames, which I find to be very commendable!

The characters are well written. I for one enjoy how Mario is portrayed in this game, as he is different from what we're used to.

Pros - Varying gameplay styles throughout the game.
- Gripping story with twists and turns.
- Replays are encouraged thanks to the various choices to be made.
- Fun references to other games, both related to Mario and not.

Cons - Control changes are only applied after a Game Over.
- Certain bugs damper enjoyment of the game.
- Some sections feel rather slow.

Impressions
Gameplay
9 / 10
The controls are fun and fluid and the game feels good to play. One issue I have is that changing the controls in the main menu only applies after reloading your save file through a game over.

Though the game is short, there are quite a few activities and scenarios that lend themselves to replaying the game just to see the different dialogue options when playing as Luigi for example.

What I enjoy a lot is the varying styles of gameplay that enhance this adventure game, which is all I can say without spoiling too much.

Graphics
10 / 10
The graphics are held in a SMB3 style, but with many custom sprites and a lot of love and dedication for them. Very enjoyable are certain scenes where the characters are much more detailed.

Even plenty of not plot-important NPCs have their own unique sprites that add life into the Mushroom Kingdom.

Sound
9 / 10
The sound effects and music fit their scenes where they play to a T. However, in a certain scenario, the P-Speed sound plays rather often which I found to be a bit distracting.

The music choices are also great, with a focus on Mario Party 3 from what I could tell.

Final Words
9 / 10
A fun, yet rather short game that knows exactly what it wants to achieve. I'm looking forward to Part 2!
