General Commentary and Game Overview
This game goes back to Mario's roots by making him a carpenter who has to make the doors for Peach's castle.

Not really, but that could be a fun idea.

Pros + Theoretically neat gameplay
+ Decent graphics and music

Cons - Practically not very neat gameplay

Impressions
Gameplay
5 / 10
Theoretically speaking, the gameplay core is solid, and a full version of the game could perhaps have expanded it into something actually fun, but as it stands, there is simply no variety to neither the platforming nor the fighting. The fighting system also commits the sin of not actually giving you EXP or anything, making fights essentially useless and therefore highly avoidable (years before Nintendo did the same, even!).

Graphics
7 / 10
Most of the graphics fit together well enough. There are a few ones that stick out a bit (like the HUD hearts), but nothing major.

Sound
7 / 10
The music is mostly good, being from TTYD, but most of it is looped pretty poorly. It's especially apparent with the miniboss theme.

The sound effects are also good.

Final Words
6 / 10
Might be worth 10 minutes of your time as long as you skip all the unnecessary fights.
