General Commentary and Game Overview
So, when I saw the icon for this game, I thought, wow.
The graphics are horrendously bad. I saw in the comments, you had a discussion about the graphics. I think you should do, 1) If you are going to hand draw the backgrounds, hand draw everything else. 2) Make the backgrounds the same style as everything else. The first Somari game had bad graphics, but at least nothing clashed.
I see this game as Somari 0.5 if this is the direction the game is headed. So far, the first one looks WAY better.
OK, the game is basically an premade engine, with different graphics and levels. Seriously. I think you should purposely make the engine bad, because, it makes sense. There's nothing really to talk about whatsoever. To put it bluntly, this game is very bland. And wasn't there a rule that goes against this submission's existence? (No Tech Demos!) Anywhoo, Pros and Cons.

Pros +It has an decent engine, but it's premade so that kinda ruins the fun.
+I would actually like to see a Somari 2, so OK concept I guess.

Cons -No real changes to the engine.
-Very bad tiles. (I can't even say that, because it's just a background, and they put objects over it.)

Impressions
Gameplay
6 / 10
I have to say 6, because it's just an engine clone. I seriously can't give it any higher than this unless you actually change some stuff. If you did, please tell me, because obviously, the changes are too small for me to notice it.
The gameplay had an okay engine. So a 6 I give to you.

Graphics
3 / 10
The graphics were terrifyingly bad. I seriously consider what the other people have said, or nobody will enjoy this game.

Sound
10 / 10
The sounds were some 8 bit song made by some guy. It was actually good, nice choice of music.

Replay
1 / 10
It's a tech demo. No real use for it, actually.

Final Words
5 / 10
This tech demo isn't very useful, since it gives absoluteness no story, no anything, and there's a rule against this stuff too.

1. I don't think anything clashed here? Anyway, at least most of the final game is going to be entirely hand-drawn anyway, including backgrounds, soooo....

2. I've heard no such rule, but whatever. They accepted it. Either way, I wouldn't have cared much. The fact that they did accept it is admittedly kinda nice, though.

3. The direction the game is headed is in one or two of my YouTube videos.

4. I thought tech demos make sense? I mean, I think it is a good idea to experiment with the engine and see what kind of design I could give it. Granted, the design here was pretty bland, but I've improved on it since, anyway.

5. People don't (or at least shouldn't) enjoy video games from graphics.

6. Just thought I'd point it out - The points earned from collecting coins was a change. However, once you look up my said one or two YouTube videos, you could see there's been quite a lot more included in the game/engine. For example, the engine lacked any enemies, let alone bosses. I've implemented those.

7. There are no tiles.

8. You do NOT come play a tech demo and expect a storyline. Alright? Let's make that clear, at least.

9. The graphics are indeed not that great here, but as I'm developing the game, there are environments that just might be at least decent.

1. Great! You took the critique?
2. Oops, that was a mistake on my part. You shouldn't of called this a tech demo, it's a regular demo.
3. It still doesn't look like something I'd get all excited about.
4. (Like I stated before, it's not a tech demo.)
5. Well, graphics do play a factor in the overall experience of the game, and if some game has horrendously bad graphics, I seriously wouldn't want to play it. So it does really play a major role in the experience.
5.5 I really don't like how you do this 1,2,3 comment aproach.
6. Sir, that was a very very very very small change. And I'm talking about this demo, not the one on your Youtube account.
7. This is what I pointed out in the review, if you actually read it. I said that there aren't even any tiles.
8. Where do I even say anything about a story?
9. No, they're not "not that great", they are very very bad.

9. No, they're not "not that great", they are very very bad.

1. It was already going there.
2. It's not a regular demo, because it does not represent how the final game will look, and to begin with, too.
3. Then....I dunno what to say. Maybe if I eventually make a trailer or something? I dunno.
4. Yes it is.
5. Everything else can still make up for it
5.5 That's how I do multiple points on a single comment.
6. That's why I was just pointing it out, not trying to argue that there is a major difference

7. There you go. If you say you can't say that, then why did you anyway?

since it gives absoluteness no story

8. There you go. I don't guess these things.
9. .............Okay.

No, actually, in the comments, you said that's how you wanted it to be, and you weren't going to change it.
Do you know what a tech demo even is? A demo is one level of the game, and in newer versions you can change it all you want-it still is a demo. A demo is an incomplete version of the game. It isn't the final version. A tech demo is more like a engine test, to test out the physics and stuff.
OK, great. Go ahead and make your trailer.
Like I stated before, it isn't a tech demo.
I'm pretty sure if the game hurted your eyes, I don't think you would play it, like I stated before. If a game had super horrible graphics, it would ruin your first impression. First impressions always count.
And I already know that about the coins. The original engine didn't have coins.

My bad about the story thing. But you should make story and engine first, then the graphics, so you can base everything off of it.

Absolutely not true. Was the first level in the YouTube video the same as this? I don't think so.

If it's going to make things easier for you, do you want me to call it an Experimental Demo next time?

Coins were in the engine. It was the collecting being added to the Score as points I was talking about. Oh, and lots of other things that will be the final game, including basic things like enemies.

And as I've stated, this demo is not what the final product will look like. In fact, some backgrounds and stuff drawn for the final may actually not look half-bad, even if I do say so myself.

If anything, the actual Somari 2 is where you'll get your first impressions.

"Oh, I had that "maybe another game" philosophy for quite some time too. You won't include them in "another game", I would go for the suggestion. You probably won't be needing that concept later on anymore.

I already said no, and I'm sticking with that answer. I'm sorry, but it's getting rather frustrating to have to repeat that."
Sir please. And in the Youtube video, it had the same graphics, and that's what they were complaining about.

It should be called a Alpha or something, since it is not even close to the final stage of development.

What is the point of that, anyways? In every Mario game ever made(and sonic too), Coins/Rings do not effect your points, which makes this very pointless and insignificant thing to add.
Like I keep saying, I said I'm talking about THIS demo. Not any other demo, I'm talking about the demo that was released to THIS site. How am I supposed to review a game that doesn't exist?
Anyways, it's not good at all to think highly of yourself or your creations.
I'm talking about the first impressions of this demo/alpha/tech demo/experimental demo.

That is my reviewing style. I can't even say that they're tiles, so I correct myself.

And you know what? Case closed. I seriously don't want this to turn into a flame war or something.
