General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario Bros. was already remastered back in 1993, but that has never stopped people from trying. Perhaps one day, it shall.

Gameplay

You might think that - since this is called "Super Mario Bros. Remastered"... sorry, "Remasted!." - the game would be a remaster of Super Mario Bros., but it actually isn't. The first level is, indeed, a slightly different version of the ever-familiar 1-1, but the other levels are wholly (?) original.

This originality, however, comes at the cost of the levels not being very good. They're quite short, messy, and either unchallenging or complete bull in their difficulty.

The first (or, well, second, I guess, since the status bar calls it "2-2") level of world 2 seems to be the end of the demo. There might be more, but as far as I can tell, that's where it ends.

The engine isn't all that good, but it's not horrible either. Let's just say it's acceptable.

A lot of the small stuff definitely sucks, though. For example, you can't crouch at all, and you have to hit blocks in very specific spots to actually trigger them.

Graphics
4 / 10
They're basically just SMB's graphics but with worse palettes. There are also a few custom blocks that don't look very good.

Sound
6 / 10
Mediocre SMB midis, decent YI castle (for some reason), alright sound effects, and a completely wrong SFX for the springs. Hooray.

Final Words
4 / 10
Barely any of this game feels remastered (or even "remasted").
