General Commentary and Game Overview
To the Joker, this is an entirely ordinary boss rush.

Pros + Really neat idea
+ Solid gameplay sometimes
+ Fitting graphics and soundtrack

Cons - Has some problems
- Most of the bosses are way too easy

Impressions
Gameplay
7 / 10
This game is a real land of contrasts.

On one hand, it's got a real neat idea and the gameplay is mostly solid. The power-ups are fun to use, and the gimmicks in the various levels are pretty neat. Speaking of levels, it's got a lot of levels, but none of them overstay their welcome, and the bosses at the end of each level are distinct enough to not make the game feel like a lazy recyclefest.

On the other hand, the engine used is juuuust slightly wonky enough to make playing the game a real pain sometimes, especially because of how unpredictable the acceleration is. Also, despite the game literally having "Boss Rush" in its name, most of the bosses are a whole lot easier than the levels before them due to having basically no invincibility frames. You can effortlessly jump almost all of them to death without breaking a sweat. There are also a lot of little bugs in the game, and while they don't ruin the game, they do make it a bit annoying to play.

Basically, it's a pretty good game, but it has some problems.

Graphics
8 / 10
The graphics are mostly good and fit together well. Some of them are a bit wonky, but I assume there weren't all that many sprites of various things that would fit the SMB3 theme.

Sound
8 / 10
The music is good as well. Can't think of a single track that wasn't on point.

Final Words
8 / 10
It's a solid game, but it does have its issues. Give it a try unless you get annoyed very easily.

Thanks for the review Roo, I really appreciate it :D

Really liked how you thought it was a solid game. Not sure what the Joker comments about..

I'm going to respond to a few points in this review so I can collect feedback for the game's updated release:

>The engine used is juuuust slightly wonky enough to make playing the game a real pain sometimes, especially because of how unpredictable the acceleration is.

That's weird, I'm getting reports that the engine is either accurate or not accurate from 3 different folks who played it? What is going on here?

>Most of the bosses are a whole lot easier than the levels before them due to having basically no invincibility frames. You can effortlessly jump almost all of them to death without breaking a sweat.

You know, it either never occurred to me or I may have forgotten that bosses needed invincibility frames. With that said, I will fix this in the updated release.

>There are also a lot of little bugs in the game, and while they don't ruin the game, they do make it a bit annoying to play.

Can I hear exactly what those "little bugs" were? Because that information would be really useful for the updated release.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the acceleration was the biggest problem for me. It's especially noticeable with those two-tile-wide platforms in the DK level, because sometimes I wouldn't have enough speed to make the jump despite having a running start.

I don't exactly remember them, but there's the checkpoint thing, at least, and I think I fell through a platform once. I also just replayed the first level and noticed two things; you can shoot the boss to death without actually starting the fight, and the timer still counts down once you pick up the ? Orb (though I got credit for clearing the level anyway, so I don't know if it matters).
