Wario Lode 0.5 Demo
preview
By: malistaticy
A remake of the 1983 classic Lode Runner, follow Wario through 5 levels of money-grabbing madness.

Controls: Arrow keys for movement, spacebar to break blocks.

Goal: Grab all the bags of Gold and take the Exit Ladder to the next level, appearing at the small gold pedestal.

Hazards:
The main threat is the Gooms. There is no way to kill them except to trap them in holes created with the spacebar,
in which they will attempt to escape. After a few seconds, the block will regenerate and kill the Goom.
After 4 attempts, they will pull themselves out and start chasing you again. Stand on top of them to prevent this.

While Gooms will get stuck in the pit (even if there is no ground below the pit), you can fall through them just fine.

However, if there is ground below your pit without another block to dig deeper, you will be trapped, and will perish once the block regenerates.

Sparkling Goom's mean they have picked up treasure, kill them to get it back.

All sprites are customly drawn and animated.
Sound Design is mostly new, except for a couple miscellaneous sounds, and Wario's voice.
Music is from a few different Mario/Wario games, but it is all remixed/arranged by me.

A tip, you'll have to herd the AI around a little to get them where you want them sometimes, they aren't the smartest bunch (forgive my ineptitude at coding!).

Planned features include scoring and perhaps a level editor. Please leave a comment/review!
Completion: Demo Genre: Platform
Franchise: Mario

Game is pretty cool. The only problem I have with it is that Wario takes to long to break a brick-block. Also, what program did you use to make this game? I am curious.

Yeah the whole game is quite a bit slower than the original game, if I decide to take the game to 60 fps it'll be quite a bit faster (as will everything else :D)

I think the thought process I went with is that since its a smaller/more cramped board, it should be a bit slower to cope.

The software is good ol' GM Studio 1.4 :D
Thanks for the feedback!
