Mario Kart: Speed Strife
preview
By: DJ Coco [E] [W]
Welcome, MFGG! The secret-mongering has finally come to an end. Many of you knew I was working on my Mario Kart fangame but nothing apart from a few menu screens have been shown yet. But now the game is complete and ready for release. Start your engines and get racing in this new game of mine! I hope you enjoy this game as much as I enjoyed making it.

The game features 12 characters, 8 of which are playable from the start. There are 16 tracks split up into four cups. If you get a trophy in one of the cups while playing in Grand Prix mode, you will unlock its respective characters. Additional to the Grand Prix mode there is also Time Trial mode where you can try to set up record times on your favorite tracks, as well as Vs Race where you can play with your own rules. You can customize speed class, CPU difficulty, which items appear, and more.
Completion: Full Game Genre: Other
Franchise: Mario

Chanceux Overall, I think I'll give it a 8/10 since sure the gameplay and racing feels good, it's missing Battle Mode, has weird looking models that weren't made for higher ratios, and then the sound effects just doesn't fit. Very nice game overall 8 / 10
Huesitos70 In a few words, in my opinion, this game is very good if you don't have a computer with many resources and you want something good, nostalgic, and of quality. 9 / 10
homerisasimpson Mario Kart Speed Strife is probably one of the best 3D games on the site. However, this game feels too rushed and generic to be put in the Hall of Fame with other great flash Mario games. If you want Mario Kart on PC, this will fill that gap. However, I cannot rate this game that high with all of its faults. 5 / 10
cientista da computação a great game with good controls 9 / 10
Yoshi542 Mario Kart: Speed Strife is a gift by fans, for fans. I would highly recommend playing it if/when you get the chance! 9 / 10
littlelum This game is well designed, but the heavy lag kills a lot of the fun. 7 / 10
TheNobleBARRY Overall a very good mario kart game and you should play if you got an ok computer! 9 / 10
RoundCircleandSphere314628 If you aren't blindsided by it's Mario sticker you'll find this game to be as hollow as your soul. "Mario Kart - Speed Strife" - but mostly the strife. 3 / 10
tylermariofan This game is great but there are a lot of problems bringing it down. I can overlook them and say that this game deserves the title of best Mario Kart Fangame. Jolly good. 7 / 10
Syaxamaphone It feels more like a tech demo than a fully fleshed out game. There are so many courses but the snail's pace gameplay didn't entice me to want to get past the first few tracks. 4 / 10
EvilYoshiToes Speed Strife is an excellent game with a lot of effort put into it. It does have its flaws, but that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable. 9 / 10
Q-Nova Need some speed? Then start your engines, and download this game now! 8 / 10
Mors Despite not being the biggest fan of DJ Coco's games, I really enjoy this! 8 / 10
VinnyVideo There are definitely some bumps in the road, but Mario Kart: Speed Strife deserves a spot in Victory Lane. 9 / 10
NaluigiRocks This game is great but still, it needs some improvements and maybe you can add a battle mode but other than that I've got nothing. I'm giving you a 9/10. 9 / 10
Birdstick A great fan made Mario Kart , but you won't be coming back for more once you experience every stage. 8 / 10
rustolegrand A homunculus of Mario Kart, lacking in soul, life, or charm, your favorite Mario characters locked in frozen stares scooting around uninspired locales. An unfortunate use of the creator's talent and skill. 5 / 10
bressan Looking for new games in MFGG, I found this. Different from the others Mario Kart Fan Games, Mario Kart: Speed Strife has nice 3D graphics and a good gameplay. It looks like I was playing the Mario Kart DS. But the game have some things I don't like. The courses are too linear, without split paths or shortcuts. The game need more original courses soundtrack.
For me, Mario Kart: Speed Strife is a good game to spend some free time. But there is something this game need: a multiplayer mode.
8 / 10
Vertette Mario Kart Speed Strife is an OK game. Offers little new and the physics take some time to get used to but when you do it's decent fun. 7 / 10
Sr.Wario Everything checks it out. It looks nice. There's a lot to do. It sounds nice.

But it doesn't control well and feels sluggish in the end, which hurts the experience. Still, for the impressive innovations, I'd reccommend a download.

spongyoshi This is a really good Mario Kart game. Maybe not the best but a pretty good one! You can give it a shot if you wanna play some Mario Kart fangames because this game is really well-made seriously! But too bad some flaws harm the game... 7 / 10
Kritter Seeing this posted on the forums, I was quite excited to play it but I just found myself underwhelmed. I wish this was treated more like a lovingly crafted fangame rather than a clone of other Mario Kart's that already exist. It really needed something new to set it apart and above from everything that had come before it, rather than a few new tracks and 1 original character.

DJ Coco isn't in the habit of trying new things and has made that clear, but it doesn't mean I have to accept that when I write my review. As a showcase of what you can achieve, it's an excellent use of 3D and quite well crafted, but in the end it's just a sub-par Mario Kart clone. As DJ Coco said, the only up side is that it's free, but for me that isn't enough.

Why does this game have a 6.6 and PM3DL has a 8? This is much better than PM3DL.

Although the 3D is impressive for fangame standards, it's rather lacking and unpolished. I would’ve rather seen a sprite-based approach that’d allow the characters to be more expressive. If that meant going full Super Circuit and flattening the courses as well, I doubt many people would care, for they’re already plenty flat.

Also, am I the only one getting an insane amount of slowdown on a select few courses? They always run at half-speed, no matter what framerate I set in the pause menu.

I think Shift is the key to use to confirm your choices on the menu.

Okay, so I deleted the key configuration file to reset the controls, and it appears that A is the key to use for choosing.

The game is really fun and well made! However, in Mushroom City (i think that was the name), the CPUs don't get damaged by cars, they just... go through them like nothing happened.

This may be a stupid question, but what software did you use to make the game?

This game is great but you need to fix the turning or make the roads bigger. Because it is way to hard to turn a corner well. Also, on the car map I had hit a car, and one of the NPC's just phased through the obstacle while I had hit the car. And the NPC didn't have the animation where you can't move, however, I had the animation if you get hit. I give this game a 7/10.

This game reminds me of the Switch's mario kart and it's very good it also looks like the DS game and the graphics are not that good but we can't ask too much for a 67 mb game, in short it's good.
