Haven't tried it yet but it looks great!!! We need more 3D games around here...

EDIT: It doesn't work! When I choose the configuration and press Enter, it says "Memory Access Violation" and quits!!!

Yeah, unzipping the demo might help here, even though it's only 1 .exe file; the .zip could have interfered with the unpacking of all the resources. Try unzipping it.

Um, yes. I unzipped it too. Same thing happens. So, no one can play this game I'm afraid.

But I can say one thing about the game without even playing it.

It needs more cowbell!!!

This is really weird. It works perfectly (running at 60 FPS) on my computer, which is outdated and from 2004.

For all of you having errors, does your computer have the latest version of DirectX installed?

EDIT: A new update was submitted. Hopefully this will fix the problem...

Argh, I really have no idea what's going on. It works perfectly on my computer.

I've asked for help at the Blitz3D forums (Blitz3D is what this game is programmed in), hopefully they'll be able to help...

Okay guys, I think I can conclude that this game does not work on Vista.

I'm currently trying to find a fix for this; I'll submit a final update when it's done.

Okay, let's try this again.

FOR ALL OF YOU GETTING "MEMORY ACCESS VIOLATION" ERRORS:

New Fixed Version

This is guaranteed to at least work on Vista computers; fawfulfan, it might solve your problem too.

Is the zip file you downloaded called SML_W1D_VistaFix.zip or SML_W1D_VistaFix_Fixed.zip? If it's the first one, then redownload from the link; I updated it to fix a bug that caused it to still MAV after the control select screen.

This should be rated at least 8,5. The game's very nice, but it's pretty hard to jump on enemies since it's 3D paper mario style. Could you make Mario jump a bit higher? And when is the full game coming? It's gonna be a hit I'm sure of that :).

P.S. I don't get any errors. The game's running perfectly on my computer and I'm with Windows XP.

well my game is called super mario quest and it's about 40% complete so perhaps if I hurry I can have it done by march. before this guy gets his done since mine is almost exactly the same as his except it uses the paper mario beta sprites.

Well, I'm planning to make this game have 8 worlds (1 being secret), so it probably won't be done until the end of this year or early next year.

Whoa..... Neat, but it needs work.... You should use SPM or TTYD sprites for mario instead of PM64. Good game! Keep working on it. Also, mario goes really slow, where as his jump is super fast and the gravity is high. I think it should be evened out a bit.

SPM and TTYD sprites need to be assembled from Retriever II's component sheets; there's no way I would be able to do that.

Well, is there any way you could fix the quality of the sprites? I'm not sure what program you're using so my idea of fix-ups and stuff is WAY different than yours. I'm only used to 2D platform games, really.

I don't know what you mean by the quality of my sprites. Do you mean the slight blurriness around the edges? That's on purpose; it helps smooth out the jagged edges.

Very good game, the best 3d platformer so far here in mfgg. :)
But could you add some checkpoints, cause when you lose you have to start over which is kinda annoying :(

PM64 prites are a tad bit dark, and the insides are blury.
