General Commentary and Game Overview
Somari 2 is a fan-made sequel to a bootleg game known as Somari. It's what you'd expect from the title, a mixture of Mario and Sonic.

Pros Good Music
Interesting Character Design
Entertaining Elements

Cons Below-Average Controls
Bad Level Design
Bad Gameplay Sprites

Impressions
Gameplay
4 / 10
The gameplay is similar to the original Somari, full of Sonic elements and lacking in Mario elements. Now, I love me some Sonic, but in a game called "Somari" on Mario Fan Game Galaxy, you'd expect at least a ? Block or a Goomba to appear. The gameplay is usually solid, except for when the collision from the spritework is annoying, but the lack of Mario elements is keeping it from getting a higher rating.

Graphics
3 / 10
Oh jeez, probably this game's lowest point. I'll get this out of the way quick. The graphics are pretty bad. Somari is the only good looking sprite during gameplay, and sometimes even he looks bad. The enemies look weird, and the terrain looks awful. The worst part is, the collision exactly follows the terrain, meaning traversing some parts is difficult do to the wonky spritework. The only thing keeping this from being a 2/10 is the artwork of Somari on the Splash and Title screens. It's really appealing, but doesn't set the tone well for the rest of the spritework.

Sound
5 / 10
While I only played the first two worlds/zones, the music was pretty good. It somewhat reminds me of Mega Man, especially in the first world.

Replay
2 / 10
I don't anticipate playing this again. I might just to see the other levels if I get curious, but I don't think I'll do that any time soon. The gameplay was alright and somewhat fun, but I'd rather just play an actual Sonic game.

Final Words
5 / 10
Somari, for what few Mario elements it had, did have some charms and was definitely an interesting play. But the spritework was bad, and it would be better to just play an actual Sonic game.
