General Commentary and Game Overview
As a fencer myself, I can say that this has absolutely nothing to do with the sport. This is actually a fun game. It has a very "Roo" feel to it, with the sound effects and the ambiance. It kind of reminds me of "Redemption". The game is very fun, and while flawed, it's VERY worth your time!

Pros - Fun "hack and slash" feel.
- Creative idea
- Charming and creative graphics
- A nice cutscene
- Neat level design?
- Different characters
- A grayscale mode

Cons - Escape doesn't close the game
- The controls are a bit unfamiliar
- When you die you have to start the whole game again
- When you restart the game, you will be immidiately taken to the game over screen. This is solved by closing and re-opening the game (which is annoying due to the fact that ESC is disabled), but is still very annoying.

Impressions
Gameplay
7 / 10
Pretty simple. The jumping is clearly not meant to be realistic, but the way you jump just kind of feels "right" with the rest of the game. There is a very neat variety of enemies, each with their own special ability. The attack mechanic is neat, and has a different effect of different enemies. It's simple, but fun and kind of reminds my of the Game Boy era.

Now don't think this is a button smashing game! No, while the gameplay makes it seem that way, it is actually going to take a bit of strategy to beat some later enemies. Oh, and if you though Hammer Bros. were bad before, then you have it in for you here.

Graphics
8 / 10
Oh yes! The graphics are retro looking, but every character has been redesigned. And when a character is redesigned, I am all over it! ALL over it... Do I really hate the main lines that much?

Regardless, the sprites are charming, and match the rest of the game very well. And the grayscale is just the icing on the cake!

Sound
7 / 10
Not much to say. Chip-tunish, and very retro. Like everything else, it just clicks in with the rest of the game.

Replay
6 / 10
Not really that much. You're gonna want to try it a few times, but after awhile the game will get boring.

Final Words
7 / 10
This game has Roo written all over it, and that's not a bad thing. It has flaws, but overall it is fun. I recommend this game to anyone who wants a fun game, has a lot of time, and likes the way Roo's game feel. The only thing that hinders it is what it takes to restart the game. 7/10.

You know, what's the deal with people writing the score here? I mean, it's not like viewers can't just look two inches to the left and see the score on a screen.
