General Commentary and Game Overview
"This game does some things well - interesting boss concepts, for example. Unfortunately, the good ideas are overshadowed by the horrible collision detection and the abundance of unavoidable obstacles. There's also some graphics clashing and unattractive resized sprites."--VinnyVideo

Vinny's comment pretty much describes this game. It could have been an interesting and awesome game if Syr had put more effort into it. You could say it's a little fun to play even despite its faults, but its poor programming among other things make it a pitiful shadow of what could have been.

Pros + Kind of fun if you can ignore its faults
+ Original plot idea

Cons - Poorly coded collisons
- Clashing between several different tilesets
- Some poorly resized graphics
- Use of Black Squirrel's tileset while completely ignoring the "RECOLOUR THIS SHEET" disclaimer

Gameplay
3 / 10
Solid collision detection is a bit rough, considering that it's occasionally possible to get oneself stuck in a wall (try ducking on corners of blocks arranged as a staircase and see for yourself). It's also possible to get stuck on a wall on the Y axis by jumping towards it.

Speaking of collisions, stomp collisions aren't that great either. You can stomp on enemies, but sometimes your stomp will result in contact damage to yourself instead of damage to the enemy (sometimes both parties get hit, which still isn't very good). If Ludwig is going to die over and over again, it ought to be the player's fault, not the fault of poor programming.

Ludwig has no mercy invincibility--depending on the circumstances this can cause you to lose several lives to one slow-moving or immobile hazard, which is no fun at all.

Honestly this game could have been very good if all of its ideas and mechanics were executed better than they are.

Graphics
3 / 10
Style clashing abounds in this game--you've got SMB3 tiles, CatezeeY tiles, and Black Squirrel tiles (which haven't been recolored so they look ugly). Some graphics are poorly resized, which also makes them look ugly.

Sound
6 / 10
The game mixes MP3s with MIDIs, which usually isn't a good idea. At least the MIDIs aren't terrible or ones we've heard a million times, so I have to give you points for that.

Sound effects seem to be fine, as I have no major complaints about those.

Replay
2 / 10
Doesn't seem to be any bonus content, and the game is not very good to begin with. The only reason I'm giving this a 2 is that the game somehow manages to be a little fun despite being of poor quality.

Final Words
3 / 10
A good idea with lackluster execution. Needless to say, it could have been much better.

Yeah, I made this for fun back then (though I'm probably a hell of a lot better now these days), I'm still not much of a game maker xD
Back then, I really didn't know who BlackSquirrel was

that aside, I'd love to forget about this poorly programmed mess.
