Super Mario Dynamo
preview
By: Hello [W]
The people of the Mushroom Kingdom have finally embraced industrialization, and it is all thanks to everyone's favorite plumber, Luigi! Unfortunately, Luigi's greed got the best of him, and the entire kingdom became shrouded in darkness. The thick smog emanating from Luigi's accomplishments have darkened the once bright and colorful kingdom. It is now up to Mario to try and solve this dilemma!

Author Summary Score
blockoman765 Overall,Super Mario Dynamo is an amazingly hard game, and its fine, because due to the story, levels, music, and overworld,it was meant to be like that 9 / 10
Vitiman Hello's attempt at a darker, harder game just comes across as cheap, unfitting, and perhaps worst of all: poorly programmed. 2 / 10
TheTwelfthRocket Super Mario Dynamo isn't the best of Hello's work, but I enjoyed it for the time being. It's also definitely not Hello's hardest game, his hardest game would probably be Super Mario Bros: Dark Days.

Super Mario Dynamo is just...OK for me.

If you want to try it out, by all means, go ahead. Just expect a bit of frustration.
6 / 10
BaconExtrodinaire Many hard games have a flaw that makes them hard, and for a bad reason. Battletoads, with barley a chance of escaping being beaten up back and front, The Wizard of Oz, (SNES,) with the platforms not letting you hop on the ends, but for Super Mario Dynamo, the winning flaw is the cramped areas. I thought I'd never pass level one with the pipe area. But otherwise, I'd have to recommend it to you if you're a hardcore gamer, and a hardcore Mario fan. 7 / 10
Ryan Silberman Trial-and-error gameplay and Mario DO NOT MIX. 3 / 10
EnderMario A well-made game, but it's a little bit hard. 9 / 10
Friendly Dictator This is probably my least favourite game I've played on this website. 1 / 10
DJ Coco You know what to expect. If Hello games are your guilty pleasure, you might as well give it a shot. Otherwise, I can't recommend this to anyone. 3 / 10
Mors Another slightly above average Hello game, this time with 10 times more frustration! 5 / 10
Old Yuanxian Oh cool, another Hello game. I'm a huge fan of them :D 10 / 10
Q-Nova It's just another one of those Hello clones, where you'll want to say "goodbye" to them. 4 / 10
technotron07 Good for one-time playing provided you are familiar with Hello's style of design and difficulty 5 / 10
Mario_Builder Now, I'm a "hardcore platformer" kinda guy but I'll say it's a pretty decent run-'n'-jump game, although the mechanics can be a bit uncomforting at times. One update could fix it all. 8 / 10
Cap'n Coconuts "Hoo hoo! Just what I didn't need!" 3 / 10
Willsaber If it wasn't so hard, it would be pretty fun. But sadly, no amount of pretty effects can cover up the lacking gameplay elements. 6 / 10
Average Score 5.4 / 10

Kind of an odd name for a game nevertheless, I though the storyline was interesting and will takr a clack at this.

Oh, boy, another HELLO CLONE!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Why do staff members (and everyone else, for that matter) complain about Hello clones when they keep accepting them to the site?

Um, its not an *insert author name here* clone if the engine is used by the author himself to make a game.

Technically, it can still happen. And most of Hello's games are the same; unhelpful or unneeded dialogue, mediocre level design, a story about a legend or the kingdom being in great danger, etc. So I guess there could be two meanings to the term "Hello Clone".

You want to know why? You really want to know why we keep accepting these?

...because it's playable, that's why. This one is (arguably) actually made in earnest (due in part to Hello himself making it), unlike some of the other engine clones I see here.

Uh, I would like to state for the sake of noting it, but I found a game-breaking bug in the game that causes the moving platforms in level 2 to sometimes be solid and sometimes be intangible; causing me to randomly fall through to my doom.

I can't play it. (Well, hardly) because all that happens when I open the game is a bunch of glitched tiles and randomness and than I press shift and I hear Mario's voice and than you see a glitches Mario sprite in the side of the screen in the tornado of randomness.

Very nice combination of Mario and hardcore platforming! Only complaints are that the piranha plant hitboxes and walljumping aren't smooth enough, and that the respawning takes a while.

Needs customizable controls. My left key is pretty much broken and I want to remap the controls to WASD.

Ah, the Hello games, bringing controversy and nooblets alike.

This looks interesting, I might give it a try.

Well, if my internet will comply, of course.

I've played through the first 3 levels and it's high up on the difficulty, but it's not unfair. And you get infinite lives. I did experience the falling through platform glitch once. Not sure what triggers that. I rather like the wall jumping except once you press a direction on the wall Mario won't let go of it so you have less control over Mario's fall speed. It's gotten me killed a few times, but not in an inexperienced player kind of way.

Maybe you should try using Wine. Wine can run almost any Windows program on your Mac. But since I use Windows, I'm quite not familiar with using Mac and Wine...

I was gonna review this game, but I don't think anything can be said about this game that hasn't already been said.

So what I will say is that I gave up on the second level, because after the first level, I was not willing to waste any more time trying to make pixel-perfect jumps.

Here's a hint, Hello: Base the very first level of your game that introduces players to the concepts and mechanics that drive your game around ANYTHING BUT GODDAMN WALL-JUMPING OVER BOTTOMLESS PITS.

F*** this game, watch it fly. *Burns the game to a CD for the sole prupose of tossing it out the window*
