How to update:
1.go to "my submissions"
2.click on the name on a submisson
note that it needs to go into the queue again.

I tried that! BUT IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!!

3. Upload a new image and thumbnail (if necessary) for the submission.
4. Click on Update Submission.
5. If the submission is still not in queue and is not updated yet, clear your cache by pressing CTRL+F5.

And voila! I think I helped ya out.

Come to think of it: the Koopa Troopas in the NES version of SMB3 manage to have more colors than the NES actually allows for that (transparency is a color, too). Was there some Megaman-ing going on here?

After doing a bit of research, I found that the MMC (memory management controller, a series of expansion chips for both the NES and Famicom) allowed more than 3 colors per sprite (I say 3 because I'm not counting transparency). I also found that both SMB2 and SMB3 use the MMC3 chip, which would make sense seeing as Mario, Luigi, and Peach all use more than 3 colors in SMB2. As far as Mega Man goes, Mega Man 2 uses the MMC1 chip, and Mega Man 3, 4, 5, and 6 use the MMC3 chip.
