General Commentary and Game Overview
Ah, yeah. This one takes me back....Sorta. As someone who's been around the block on the site for almost 10 years, fangames like these do manage to sneak into my elementary school memories, moreso ones that I could actually look back upon fondly. However, I hardly remembered a thing about Super Mario CJ other than it was likely made with the standard Game Maker platforming example. Now that I've finally gotten around to play this thing again, I can safely understand why I had little to no memories of it: Super Mario CJ is a bust to the nth degree...

Pros -Eeeeeh

Cons -Floaty mechanics
-Camera doesn't give a good view
-Presentation is rather poor
-Music gets repetitive quickly
-Graphics are utilized in an ugly manner
-Bowser's movements are laughably bad
-Nothing interesting happens in any level

Impressions
Gameplay
2 / 10
With the floaty jump mechanics of the platforming example for Game Maker, control is pinpoint but at the same time unreliable. The levels are also painstakingly repetitive and dull, usually consisting of boring groups of motionless platforms and floors.

Graphics
1 / 10
Yuck. From the title screen to the simple and simply ugly-looking level layouts that may or may not be consistent with one another to character graphics that clash, this game is just reeking with bad implementations.

Sound
1 / 10
"It's-a Me Mario!"
>Bonus game music from Super Mario World<
"Ya-hoo!"
Rinse and repeat.
While the game changes it up every now and then, the majority of it doesn't make any sense. Literally any level music could be better used for this game's levels than bonus game music.

Replay
1 / 10
After having finally played this again? I don't think I'll ever want to play it from this day forth.

Final Words
1 / 10
This game may have been made in 2004, but that doesn't make it tolerable, especially in these recent times.
