Been a while since I've uploaded.

Something you probably didn't know: Super Mario World was the very first video game AwesomeZack played.

Well, seeing as SML had terribly stiff controls, I wouldn't imagine it'd be too hard to make a fangame inspired by it. Even the most basic GameMaker developer (meaning me) could probably do something like that.

Yoshi's feet don't look right to me. I think maybe you should make him look closer to his appearance in SMBDX. Everything else looks great though.

There pretty good I have to admit. I especially see use in your Ball 'n Mace. I'm definitely gonna use it in a game I make in the future. but there is one tiny problem. all the sprites seem to be based of the scale of the Goombos, Bombshell Koopas and Piranha plants from the original game 8x8 pixels. In the original game those were the only three sprites that were 8x8 pixels as the others were based of a 16x16 scale. and its kind of awkward to me seeing all the sprites based of the scale of the 8x8 sprites. And you can do some sprites based off of the 8x8 sprite size rule but not all. try making some sprites a little bit bigger to match the SML style. And maybe not copy Mario's feet for Yoshi's it looks stupid.

First off, I made Yoshi's shoes, as well as the rest of Yoshi, to look like the one in my SMB Yoshi sheet, considering some of the SML graphics are comparable to that of SMB.
Second, it's not so much an 8x8 size rule, as it is a "sprites are half there size" rule. 8x8 is exactly half of 16x16, which is the size of most normal sprites in SMW. Every sprite in SML that has made an appearance in previous Mario games or was similar to a sprite from other games was shown as half its normal size in this game. Any other sprite was new, and would probably be twice it's size in any other game. In addition, all blocks and powerups and even Mario shrunk in size. It would only make sense that these changes were applied to all of the enemies.

@The Yak Smoker (cool name, by the way): In other words (and to put it more simply), every classic 2D Mario game (including SML2) followed a 16x16 block grid, whereas SML1 followed an 8x8 grid.

Why do Yoshi's 'feet' look stupid? I'm not trying to be stupid or annoying or anything, but is there any explanation for his 'feet' looking stupid?

directly applying mario's feet to yoshi looks goofy, yoshi's boots are better off being 2 or even 1 pixel high rather than 3. his idle pose could also get away with only showing one foot like in SMW, because unlike mario here, yoshi is completely facing one direction, while mario's body is facing towards the screen.

the other sheet has nothing to do with it. i'm saying that here, on this sheet, with such small sprites, having feet be 3 pixels high is too much. the feet placement is also strange for the reasons i listed.

The other sheet has plenty to do with it, because the Yoshi in this sheet is based on the Yoshi in the other sheet, yet no one complained about that one. And plus, It makes sense for Yoshi's feet to be 3 pixels high, because Yoshi is supposed to have bigger shoes than Mario.

nobody complained there because the sprites are at a larger scale. here, yoshi's much smaller, so why should his shoes remain the same size? that doesn't make sense.

Okay, now you're just being ignorant. In the first sheet, when idle, Yoshi's shoes where 7x5. In this sheet, his shoes are 4x3, which makes them nearly half their original size. His shoes definitely DID NOT remain the same size.

Super Mario Land has small graphics of Super Mario Bros just compare SMB and SML Mario and you will see a little resemblance so AwesomeZack did the same idea to his sprites from Yoshi.
Your complaints are invalid judging what you sent to him of his modern smw sheet it seems you rather have SML Yoshi have his SMW standing. No, yet you don't complain about his SMB Yoshi sprites and now you complain on this? Are you blind?
Awesomezack can decide on his own so about you make the sprites yourself if you don't like?

i didn't complain there because i didn't pay any attention there.

why am i still even bothering here? nobody listens to any kind of criticism you give them and they return it in hostility. the "adults" act like children and the children act like toddlers. i really just do not get it at all.

that sheet has LITERALLY NOTHING to do with this sheet. why? because i'm talking about this sheet. not that one. this one. get it now? i'm not gonna go back and say the same thing on the other sheet because there's no point. you know what? if you want to get better at spriting and actually get criticism rather than people complimenting you to death, why don't you join the forums and have people tell you there? no wonder i never comment, the mainsite is a totally different place from the forums.

I can't agree more with Mit on this one. There shouldn't be a reason why you need to ask why he didn't give criticism on your previous sheets because that's not the point he's making. Like he said, he's talking about this sheet in specific, but instead of listening to him you're just tuning him out and blaming him for not criticizing something from nearly 3 YEARS ago. If you're not going to listen to what people tell you, chances are slim that your work will become better for others.

And now I'll disappear from this conversation and probably not return.

NONE OF YOU are getting what I'm saying. The problem that Mit decided to point out is EXACTLY THE SAME as the problem that NO ONE EVER MENTIONED on the other sheet I did! If no one cared to mention this "issue" back then, then why should I bother with it now? You know what, I'm sick of this. I'm just gonna say, if you have a problem with this sheet, then just fix it yourself. The graphics in SML are so simple that It would barely take any time at all to fix them, anyway. Now, I'm NEVER commenting on this sheet again. Bring your issues up on my newest sprite sheet, which should be accepted soon.

none of my criticism has started out harsh either time. it's mostly a matter of it being talked around and disregarded and then i and everyone else involved gets called a "child". i'm obviously going to get agitated if i'm flat out insulted for just trying to help and i'm met with aggression and just being ignored.

They can do what they want to, but I'm just saying, people besides me and Jaden have said something about this. Has anyone agreed for this to have been finished?
