Well... This is... bad.

Gameplay
2 / 10
In the very first level, you for some reason are in the sky. The sky of Cloud Haven, to be more accurate. I dunno what the plot is, but starting off at a sky level doesn't seem like a good idea. Also, the levels are split into "acts", so I guess at the time Vitiman was into Sonic games.

The physics are really slippery, causing me to slip off a platform. At the beginning of the level, there's a piranha plant that is always popping up, giving you almost no time to pass by. There's also a line of Paratroopas where you have to stomp on all of them without missing one to advance. This is also on the beginning of the level which makes for some awful design choices, and it doesn't help that it's hard to actually land on the Paratroopas, since most of the time I do a perfect landing, yet I still lose a life. Neat. To end the level, you actually have to walk off the screen. How was I supposed to figure that out?

On the second act, I slipped off the starting platform again, since the starting point was only a few blocks away from the edge. There's another line of Paratroopas to stomp on to advance, but every time I made it to the second Paratroopa, I lose a life despite making a clean hit. I couldn't advance, til I realized I could just go on the clouds below the Paratroopas. There's another piranha plant here, and since I had just grabbed a fire flower, I decided to try and kill it. But every time I shoot a fire ball, it goes flying up. Fireballs in other Mario (fan)games, fireballs tend to go down when shot in midair, so it was quite hard to actually kill the piranha plant. At one point, I had to do a leap of faith, and I ended up landing on a Spiny.

The third act has a pipe where I tried landing on it, but I slipped. Thank you, awful physics. I find another piranha plant, but luckily this time I could jump over it. Then, another leap of faith, and the platform was narrow this time, so I landed but slipped off. After this, there's some Paratroopas you have to stomp on to reach the platforms. I made the mistake of killing it with the fire flower, so I couldn't advance and had to lose a life. Here's the first boss, a Lakitu. All you have to do is get on the platforms and stomp on him. But the platforms are REALLY narrow, so I slipped off multiple times. Eventually I finally managed to defeat him, but not without truckloads of deaths. Thank goodness there's infinite lives.

That was the point where I decided to call it a day.

Graphics
5 / 10
Most of the graphics don't clash, which is great. But the only clashing graphics would be the backgrounds. The first background doesn't really fit into the level despite it being clouds, and the level taking place in the sky. There's a combo of SMB1 and SMB3 graphics, which I don't find clashing much, but I don't know about anybody else. But when SMB2 graphics started to show up, that's where the clashing begins. Luckily it's far into the games, so you don't see much of it.

Sound
5 / 10
The music is pretty neat and decent for the most part. You hear some Sonic remixes here, which are nice to hear, but don't really fit in with this being a Mario-themed game. The sounds however, REALLY clash in. I see no 8bit elements here, but the sounds are completely made up of 8bit sounds. It really does not fit in with the game.

Replay
2 / 10
The replay value... sadly, there isn't much here. You've seen everything in this game, so there really is no point to play this again.

Final Words
3 / 10
I can see why this game was scrapped. There's some good things here and there, but it doesn't really make the game completely good.
