And this alone proves Japan had the cool stuff while we got the most basic grey box of a console of all time. Not to hate on the NES, but I'm jealous of those who have a Famicom.

Spectacular rips.

The FDS was a pretty neat innovation for the time, but the loading times on most of the disk games were unbearable.

I haven't seen many FDS-only games, but from what I have seen (meaning Lost Levels), they only last, like, 5 seconds. No longer than Rayman's or Crash Bandicoot 2's load times.

Why? The NES was superior in almost every way. :/

And the fact that you had to blow into the cartridges if dust got into them. And the name's kinda bland, too, compared to "Famicom Disk System".

Oh, AND the fact that the NES didn't have a program that let you program your own games.

Say that again after playing the FDS version of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. :P

Also, it seems from my (admittedly cursory) research on collectors' forums that FDS disks tend not to survive the test of time nearly as well as NES/Famicom carts due to the constantly exposed window on the magnetic disk (the magnetic nature of it in itself being another risk factor).

Conversely, however, the Famicom is sexier in shape and color scheme, and offers expanded functionality compared to the NES (richer sound capabilities, microphone on the second controller, the Disk System, etc). Somewhat considerable downfalls of the Famicom, though, are that the 2P controller doesn't have Start/Select buttons, the controllers are hard-wired to the console, and the wires go through the sides of the controller no less (uncomfortable and awkward).

FDS isn't that powerful anyway, most of the fds games were easily ported to NES

That's because Japan had the FDS and we (the USA) had the NES. In order for Nintendo to publish games out to America, they had to port their games to the NES. It had nothing to do with how powerful one system was.

Furthermore, going by the way you've written it ("isn't" instead of "wasn't"), of course the FDS isn't very powerful nowadays, compared to today's systems. But back then, like most things Nintendo used to come up with before rehashing old ideas over and over, it was revolutionary.

i meant all games released on FDS could have been released on Famicom, the only thing that the famicom doesn't have, is the extra sound channel

Where did you get the rom? I saw in a video that Mario and Luigi have а "carrying overhead" animation as well, I'd like to rip those sprites, which I can't do as I can't even find the rom anywhere.

sadly there's no rom (first of all because it's not a game stored on a cartdridge so it doesn't have a rom :P), i made these sprites with the fc palette, i tried to make them as close as they looked like but these sprites are not ripped from the disk writter
