General Commentary and Game Overview
Sarasaland, the old forgotten land from Super Mario Land 1 and home of Princess Daisy, has been conquered by... characters from Mario bootlegs. You know, for some reason. And they've kidnapped Daisy!

Clearly it's up to Mario to save the- No wait, they got him, too. Nuts.

Well, I suppose they'll just have to depend on Luigi, then! Luigi has gone to E. Gadd and had him soup up the Sky Pop. Now he must Gradius his way to victory!

Pros -The graphics are solid and consistent
-Provides a good challenge
-Seems accurate to Game Boy limitations
-Upgrade system provides variance in playstyle
-Polished

Cons -Only a single level
-Might be a touch TOO hard
-Especially that wall maze thing
-You know which one I mean

Impressions
Gameplay
8 / 10
Luigi Land is a bit of a Gradius-inspired SHMUP game, if it wasn't obvious at this point. You play as Luigi as he pilots the new and improved Sky Pop.

The game plays a fair bit like Gradius as far as I can tell, but with a Mario spin. Enemies will occasionally drop fire flowers that can be used to upgrade your arsenal. This provides an interesting variance to the gameplay and allows for multiple playstyles. And yes, I know it's just a Gradius mechanic.

The game is very, very difficult. Enemies will bombard Luigi with bullets left and right. For this reason, I highly recommend playing with a visible hitbox.

The level design is pretty decent. The tunnel thing midway through the level is a tad obnoxious, but I suppose you can master it with practice.

In addition, due to the limits of the contest, the game only features 1 level. Coconuts has expressed his intention to create an expanded version of this game, but as it stands, it's very short.

Graphics
7 / 10
The game's graphics aren't incredibly impressive in themselves (due to practically being monochrome and all), but they are very accurate to Game Boy limitations as far as I can tell.

Sound
6 / 10
The game's music is pretty decent and gets the job done, but it seems like Coconuts MAY have used NES and Game Boy music, so that leads to a bit of an inconsistency.

Replay
3 / 10
Sadly, the game doesn't feature much variance beyond the upgrade mechanic, so the only real reason to replay is to try on a harder difficulty.

Final Words
8 / 10
Hard as can be and pretty short, but an overall fun experience. SHMUP fans should definitely give this one a try.
