General Commentary and Game Overview
When I saw that this game received a 2/10 score from Somari64, I was shocked. Could this game have really been as bad? Especially considering it's satire to the very trilogy that gets scores these low? Turns out, this game does a good job at letting you know how far people actually got, because this small game's one and only boss battle at the end contradicts everything you've gone through to get there. Somari64 claims to have only played the first stage, and that's a no-no for reviewing ANY game, let alone this one.
The 4 or 5 stages the game has are unspectacular. In fact, they're very bland. The levels are weak, and the backgrounds are either ugly or nonexistent. The best you get out of the traditional Mario gameplay is the usual Goomba-stomping action, but not more. And then, when you approach the boss battle, the game pretty much changes its identity. The boss itself isn't really that fine-tuned, but it's surprisingly creative and a it's bit more of a genuine challenge to avoid its projectiles. Even better - As you progress in defeating the boss, the background builds up into pure EPICNESS, complementing the boss battle finely.
