General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario 2D Land is an attempt at fangaming for the first time (I guess) and to me, it wasn't all too spectacular.

Pros -Nice tilesets in some levels
-Pretty good MIDIs

Cons -Boring level design
-Overused SMB3 graphics
-Logo for the game is ugly
-Some debug features from the original engine is still in the game (Example: Press Z on the map to unlock the next level)
-Forced fullscreen
-Blind jump in World 1-1
-No bosses

Impressions
Gameplay
3 / 10
Gameplay was a bore, as the levels were mostly linear and just had enemies scattered around the place. Not only that, there's not much else to say anymore, because there's really nothing new. No new enemies or surprises pop up in the game.

Graphics
5 / 10
The graphics are some of the most overused graphics in fangaming: Super Mario Bros. 3 graphics. These graphics have popped up so much whenever I see some games with these graphics for literally everything I think it's just another SMB3 clone. Some of the custom tilesets are nice in levels though.

Sound
5 / 10
The sound is mostly MIDIs, ones from the engine this game was based on. Levels like castles don't even have castle music, World 1's castle used athletic music, and World 2's castle had underwater music. The sound effects are just the ones from Super Mario All-Stars, so there's nothing really to say about that.

Replay
2 / 10
Here's the ugly part of this review. There's almost no replay value to this, and that is mainly because of gameplay. It is boring, linear, and not very well-made...

Final Words
4 / 10
The most boring engine-based game I've played.
