General Commentary and Game Overview
We all remember the basic plot, right? Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach, then Mario defeats Bowser and saves the princess. It appears that this game has that plot, but there is something new when Mario defeats Bowser.

Mario just discovered that Ztar kidnapped Peach, and Ztar is going to use Peach's magic to rule the world. Now why can't Peach use her magic to escape Bowser's Caste? Maybe Bowser has magic that is stronger than hers, but then Ztar would kidnap Bowser then. I guess Ztar would rather use light magic, because, erm, he wants to be a normal star?

The plot can make you think for a while, but let's review, shall we?

Pros +Good music choices
+Ztar is the villain, which we don't see it that often
+Shine Sprites for replay value
+The first two bosses are underused characters
+Bugless

Cons -Boss attacks are randomized
-Blue Goomba's circle radius is too small
-The second boss is very hard
-Some sounds just don't fit
-Graphics clash

Impressions
Gameplay
6 / 10
The gameplay is very basic, as you can run around and jump. There is enemies in your way, which can defeat you if you get hit four times. Luckily, you can recover your health by collecting a Mushroom. There is a problem with recovering health though, because there is like only a few Mushrooms in the game. I bet this makes Mario really hungry at times. Anyway, the level is collecting a star. Since Ztar is the villain, I guess these Stars are supposed to fight against Ztar?

At the topic of enemies, there isn't a whole lot of them here. We have some of the common ones. The only original enemy here, is a blue Goomba. Blue Goomba's turn into a tornado if you get close to them, and they'll go towards you while they are in their tornado state. I liked this idea, but you have to be really close to them before they become a tornado. I guess those Goomba's are really brave, right?

Since that's all I have for enemies, let's talk about bosses, shall we? I liked your choices, because the first two are underused characters. But I don't like how their attacks are randomized. Why? Because sometimes they'll do like 10+ attacks before doing a attack which let's you hurt them. Also, that second is just plain HARD. Because the blue Goomba's are the only thing that can hurt him. As their circle radius is too small, it can be a nightmare to defeat him as you have four points of health and the boss has SIX points of health. Maybe Peach's magic is a bit too strong, perhaps?

I didn't find any bugs, so that gives you a plus! That also means Mario is very healthy and Peach's magic is very clean.

Graphics
4 / 10
Now what do we have here? Let's see, we have MPA Mario, Chaoxys Goomba, and Black Squirrel tilesets. Hold on, that's a lot of clashing graphics I saw there. Plus, Black Squirrel tilesets are overused. I can't help it, but notice that most backgrounds are badly resized. Those badly resized must have been from the work of Ztar, who is using Peach's magic.

Those default message boxes are changed, and they look good. They even used mugshots and the color of the box depends in the mugshot, which I liked.

I noticed a problem with the Bob-Omb's explosion, because it seems to be too small. I guess Ztar forgot to put a little bit of Peach's magic into the Bob-Ombs. The effects are okay, but they are those default effects from GM.

Sound
6 / 10
Your choice of the music is good, and they all fit very well. The track that plays in some levels (like the first one) is one of my favorites.

Sounds are okay, but a couple of them are overused. Pus, some sounds don't even fit at all. Like the Bob-Omb's explosion makes the "poof" sound effect, which makes it sound like they aren't exploding at all. Another example is from the second boss. When he stomps on the ground, two waves appear and it makes the throwing sound from SMAS. It just, doesn't fit...

Well, you could use some different sounds. Oh, and I forgot something. Mario does a voice effect for each action he does. It can get annoying after a while.

Replay
5 / 10
After beating the game, I felt like playing this game a few more times. Though, if you are interested in bonus content, then I guess you can try searching for the Shine Sprites. Each world has one Shine Sprite, and if you collect them all, then you'll unlock two secret levels which lets you play as the first two bosses. There could have been a couple more secret levels, though.

Final Words
6 / 10
If you are looking for a fangame that has Ztar in it, then this game should be worth your time.
