General Commentary and Game Overview

FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Alarm Event for alarm 0
for object obj_levelloader:

Unexisting room number: 0

That was the error I got from Castle #2 after trying to reenter it after dying once.

But that's not why I despise this poor riff on Dragezeey's Engine. The reason why I'm not fond of it is because it is the usual engine clone we get so often, only for it to try and be a mediocre Mario platformer, copying what we've seen time and time again for the millionth time.

Pros -The engine itself has potential

Cons -Levels are soulless and unspectacular
-Just your average blatant engine clone
-The error shown above
-There's a button for skipping levels

Impressions
Gameplay
4 / 10
The good news is that what's here from Dragezeey's engine works and is accounted for. You even get to play around with the Raccoon Leaf later in the game.

However, everything else about this game is utterly dull. The levels are anything but fun, as they are completely devoid of uniqueness or originality. The engine is CLEARLY capable of producing levels that are beyond the regular SMB1 scope, so why does the majority of the levels feature such restricted, uninteresting, and flat designs?

And when it's not that that's irking me, it's the occasional every-now-and-then cheap enemy placement.

Graphics
4 / 10
Ho-hum Mario graphics.

Sound
3 / 10
Ho-hum sound effects and music (Some songs are even in the wrong places - EX: One castle has overworld music)

Replay
3 / 10
If you're bored and want to play a random Mario platformer you're likely to loathe anyway, then be my guest. Otherwise, stay back.

Final Words
3 / 10
Where's the love?

This would've been at least a 4 if not for some major oversights and lack of effort.

That error is most likely caused when a level doesn't have a midway point defined on the mapscreen, and you get to a midway point, die and retry the level. Does this suggest anything...?

My point is that the error shouldn't have been there to begin with if a game like this is going to be presented to the masses.

But that didn't even contribute to my score, so don't focus on it too much.
