General Commentary and Game Overview
The Legend of Marker is a game that is set in the far reaches of the Mario universe. In that sense, it is a fan game. Admittedly it kind of stretches the definition of a fan game, but that's okay, because this is one of the best games you will find on MFGG.

I wrote a review on a previous demo of this game, and now I am doing the same for this one. This review will mainly focus on content that has been added or changed since the last submission to the mainsite. It will also have a somewhat lower amount of mindless gushing.

Pros + A unique, fun experience unlike most of what MFGG has to offer (not saying MFGG's offerings are inferior, just that this is different)
+ A unique graphical style with some impressive lighting effects
+ Excellent custom music

Cons - The difficulty in this demo's later levels could use some adjustment

Impressions
Gameplay
9 / 10
This update adds several more levels into the game, including the mountain and forest regions. It also adds weapons, which are used with the F key. An attack with the F key is just about necessary to survive starting with the fifth level, as then the game starts throwing spiked enemies at you in large quantities.

Speaking of that fifth level, that is about where there is a noticeable difficulty spike. The presence of large quantities of spiked enemies makes survival much more difficult, especially if you don't quite have enough money to purchase a weapon that creates an area of effect around you.

In level six the difficulty rises again, making it almost impossible to reach the special item chest in the first room. The room consists primarily of air currents and ! blocks, and at one point the current forks up and to the right--to hit the red ! block to make it possible to get the chest, you have to go up, but the current is blowing you to the right, and the jump required is almost impossible.

Graphics
10 / 10
Graphics of the new areas is pretty dang impressive. The graphics vaguely remind me of Yoshi's Island, which had some of the best aesthetics of any SNES game ever. As with the previous demo, the game adeptly uses particle and lighting effects.

Sound
10 / 10
The new music remains on par with the music in the past demo, by which I mean it is pretty awesome. Everything fits and many of the tunes are quite catchy.

Replay
5 / 10
In this demo all of the levels (except the introductory level) have at least one special item chest, so there's a bit of motivation to play levels again. It also seems the developer is planning an arena and 2P Versus, but those things aren't available just yet.

Final Words
9 / 10
An excellent game that really needs some love, even if calling it a fan game on MFGG is a bit of a stretch.

thanks for the review never realized how necessary I made it to use weapons. Anyways your review help open my eyes on level design and I removed some of the spike enemies and made the wind tunnel level a lot easier to get. (note that special chest I one of the hardest chest to get in the game) also just wondering in what part of the game did end up quitting. Anyways thanks for the review and supporting my game. :D
