General Commentary and Game Overview
I was happy to see that this was going to be more than a joke game that tried too hard to be funny, and instead got a nifty little game that killed some time. How much time, you ask? Well...not much.

Pros +Tight physics
+A good selection of graphics
+Cool soundtrack
+Luigi's wiggly legs!
+Has potential

Cons -Very short
-Sound effects might be redundant to some
-A few bugs and hindsights that stick out

Impressions
Gameplay
7 / 10
I should probably get rid of the elephant in the room first: this game isn't really a game; it's more of an engine test. Of course, engine tests don't usually find their way very often on the site, if mainly because they're in an incomplete state. But thankfully, Renhoek made this more than just a test--he made a fun level for you to enjoy with a nice ending. It's not even a complex story, but it doesn't need to be one.

As for the gameplay, I feel like the controls and physics are pretty spot on. Movement feels good, the timing is right, and I didn't discover a lot of collision errors. I also liked the little things, such as bumping blocks that were already hit and Luigi's legs flailing in the air like crazy. I just love those!

Of course, it's not perfect. This is something that doesn't change things dramatically, but you can't collect coins that are on top of bricks after hitting them from below. There were also a few issues I had with the Ice Flower. For one, I felt like the iceballs decelerating as they went along was unnecessary, and for another, it didn't feel natural that I was stopped by ice blocks when sliding down a slope, rather than knocking them over like enemies. The acceleration speed also felt a little slow.

Graphics
8 / 10
You've got a great set of graphics here. It's not every day you get to see Super Mario Advance Mario sprites, and, even though I would recommend replacing the enemy sprites in the future, they don't clash as bad as they could. I also appreciate the effort gone into recoloring tiles instead of just taking ones that are pre-colored for you!

There are still a few minor visual bugs that could be looked at. Whenever you pick up a veggie or enemy, it doesn't "lift" up with you. Instead, it's stuck far into the ground and suddenly teleports into your hands. I also thought it was weird how Mario's (or Luigi's) colors became brighter, but, instead of flashing, stayed the same until the effect wore off.

Sound
6 / 10
The sound selection is also pretty nice. The music chosen fits the spirit of the game, and the sound effects that played weren't that bad. It's just that they might feel overused to some since they are SMAS sounds, but that didn't bother me too much.

I don't know what caused this, but when I was playing Luigi's mode, I would hear the title screen music play when I died. This might need some looking at.

And I can't let this affect the score or anything, but I was slightly disappointed that there was no sound that played like in the Advance series when Luigi was jumping.

Replay
1 / 10
Yeah. With most other engine tests, there's not much to go back for unless you'd like to check for bugs or check out it's multiplayer mode. But also like other engine tests, I won't let this affect my final score.

Final Words
7 / 10
A short but sweet experience for you to enjoy this holiday season.
