General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario Flashback is a fantastic game by Mors, it's still a work in progress, sadly, cuz this game is awesome, in fact, its one of the best games on MFGG. So lets dig in!

Pros +Fantastic Music
+Amazing Graphics
+Sound Detail
+Mario's voice appears to be from later games
+Tight control
+Custom controls

Cons -Rankings which appear to be based off of Sonic the Hedgehog games
-Wall Jump is a bit wonky
-Only a demo
-Star effect
-Graphics options (Could I already do that?) or frameskip settings for weaker computers wouldn't hurt, but you don't take requests :(
-WHY IS THERE NO FULL SOUNDTRACK?!
-Buggy

Those are only minor nitpicks, except for the last 2.

Impressions
Gameplay
8 / 10
You start the game in some weird colorful room with pipes, but this is obviously a file select room. You enter a pipe and name your file. THEN you actually get into the game.

OH YEAH.

So Mario starts by somersaulting out of a time portal (Which has something to do with the plot) and you do a basic mission: go beyond the flagpole. When you complete the mission, more will be unlocked, which one has to be doing with a secret area in a underground bonus room, and another one where you race Lakitu. Then you complete those, press Y on the level select and OH MY GOD, is it amazing. You're at Yoshi's Island! Yoshi is nowhere to be found, though, which is sad. The cave section slows my game down to a snail's pace though! Can you fix that, Mors?

But lets get to the control.
The control? Really solid. Mario responds to your every move, he can also do moves 3D Mario can do! NSMB could let you wall jump, but this game lets you do more stuff from 3D Mario games, like the charge jump when you crouch long enough.
The wall jump, however, needs some work. Sometimes Mario might fall off the wall when I try to wall jump.

Then there are rankings. You are ranked depending on how well you did, such as how many times you got hurt, died, or how long it takes you to beat the level. Jeez! This game is supposed to be a 2D collectathon which collectathons requires you to thoroughly explore, but this game wants you to rush through! Wha?! They don't really have a impact on the game, though, and I hope they don't in the final product.

And then there are bugs. THERE ARE A LOT. Its only a demo though, so Mors will hopefully fix the bugs. Here are some examples, I was able to clip into the first slope in the starman section of the 1-1 level by jumping into it, or, I could kill Mario if he collects the star, falls off the platform, and gets killed by a enemy in the SMW level, or, he can also still shoot fireballs if Mario is in Fire Form when you are at the result screen!

Well, at least I could also switch to my preferred control thanks to the custom controls!

Pretty good, but can you fix the bugs? I know you probably won't remove the rankings cuz

"I don't take requests. Sorry."

Graphics
9 / 10
The graphics are fantastic! The character sprites are by Mit, Big Five-Oh style. The tiles I don't know who made them.

The game also has beautiful lighting effects, but I'd wish I could turn it off for smoother gameplay. The starman effect (with the screen) could also hurt people's eyes if they are sensitive.

Other than that, great job!

Sound
10 / 10
The music is by the great, empty (Not literally or figuratively) Can of Nothing! Catchy rearranges are to be found in this game! Do I have a favorite? No. So why am I praising this so much? BECAUSE I LOVE ALL OF THEM! MORS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE PUT A FULL SOUNDTRACK ON YOUR (or Can of Nothing's) SOUNDCLOUD! IT NEEDS THEM!!

Now, since I'll stop raving about the music, now for the sound. The sound is put into fitting spots, like Mario's jump noise, wall jumping, ground pounding, basically all sounds are pretty fitting!

Fantastic job!

Replay
5 / 10
Well, if you want to listen to the music (since the game doesn't have a full soundtrack) or look at the graphics, by all means, go ahead. Other than those reasons, there aren't many reasons to come back.

Final Words
9 / 10
I cried tears of joy playing this game. Its THAT good. Or should I say godly? Fix the bugs and wall jump and put a full soundtrack on your soundcloud, and this will be my #1 favorite game on MFGG. Never give up, Mors. I salute you.

DOWNLOAD IT NOW.

Nice job! ^_^ I didn't know you made them cuz I didn't see any Big Five-Oh tiles on your submissions.

EDIT: They are Bews tiles.

Thank you for the review!
I don't take requests, but I would gladly consider suggestions. By requests, I meant stuff like "Hey, can you add a level based on Giana Sisters?".
I'm working on a new version with less bugs and more levels.
And CoN will upload the whole soundtrack after finishing the game. But I'm adding a sound test, so if you don't want to wait 1.5 years, you can listen the OST from there.
