General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario Country is a rather hardcore look at SML2. The levels are hard as heck, and the bosses require precise timing and reactions to beat.

But, like anything else, one just needs to get the hang of it. Once you do that, even this level of hard can still be beaten.

For nitpicks, and this is ONLY a nitpick:
Is that it doesn't exactly feel like it's being played on a Game Boy, but rather, something far more powerful.

Pros + Various levels
+ Able to take on any world in any order
+ Nice choice in graphics
+ Rather fitting music

Cons - In Soviet Russia: Game plays you! (Very steep difficulty ramp)
- Fast reflexes required for some areas and bosses

Gameplay
9 / 10
YAHOO!
Strap yourself in, and get ready for one of the hardest SML fangames that you have ever played!
If you are looking for a challenge; and I mean a hard as heck challenge, then this is the one!
The difficulty ramps up FAST!

Some levels, such as the mine cart area's require precise timing on jumps, and bashing enemies to clear gaps.

The bosses also don't give any warning as to when they are about to attack.

Be ready to die over and over, until you get the hang of this game's system.
Once you have that, this game really plays like any other.

Graphics
9 / 10
The graphics are all done up in the style of what would be supported on the monochrome Game Boy, Which I admit, is a nice touch!

Some of the sprites, where they have been adapted to fit with the shade limitations, sometimes seem out of place.
But this is all just minor stuff.

Sound
5 / 10
The music is on a double edge here,
On one hand, the selection fits well with the game, but on the other, the majority of it was ripped from SML2 directly.

However, if we tip the blade on its edge, we see that all the music is operated externally, if I had any real problems with the music, I could just swap them out. ;)

Replay
10 / 10
If you loved the challenge the first time around, them I'm sure that this is one that you will come back to.

Final Words
9 / 10
If you love a game that makes you work to beat it, and I mean REALLY work for it, then this is the game for you.
