General Commentary and Game Overview
Toad takes the spotlight once again in this crazy and interesting fangame by Friendly Dictator! Toad never has really had a starring role in a Mario game before, and it's always nice to see a new fangame to help with the character. So the question becomes: Is Abducted Toad something that alienates fangamers?

Pros -Fun!
-Innovative levels
-Unique story
-Creative enemies
-Soundtrack
-High replay value

Cons -Difficult in a few areas
-Minor clashing

Gameplay

One day, Toad is taking a walk in the plains. His late stroll is interrupted by an abduction from aliens! It turns out, however, that it's not an alien abduction...well, he still was abducted by an alien, but the alien, named Cappy, explains to Toad that he needs him to stop the evil King Purpulis (not the planet, obviously) by combining their powers. With not a moment to lose, Toad heads to the nearest teleporter to begin his newest adventure to stop an angry alien from another planet.

The game plays nice and smoothly. The controls are easy to pick up and use, and there's no major issues with the controls. You always move at one single speed (unless on a platform, conveyor, underwater, etc.), which is balanced nicely. As a combined...being, for lack of a better word, with Cappy, you also have the ability to perform an energy burst at close range. This is how you can take down some of the enemies that you can't stomp on, so long as they aren't resistant to the attack itself. Because the attack is short ranged, however, you may get hit by the enemy that you're trying to attack if this is the first time you're encountering it. Of course, you may not have a problem after the first encounter, but still, there's not any good way to tell sometimes if you can use an attack or not.

One area I personally didn't have a problem with but other people did have is the Crumbling Castle Area. I was able to get through the area relatively easy, though some inexperienced players may find difficulty in it. I did, however, find a little difficulty in the Windy Tower Area. The wind blew you all over the place, there was a plague of enemies (seriously, there's only like 3 enemies in the whole tower), limited control over the wind, wherein you could only stop the wind by crouching, and in general felt a little tedious to get through. I haven't experienced the earlier versions, but I'm certain I wouldn't have liked a stronger wind in that area.

Other than that, I found little bugs, excellent level design and concepts, and a fun experience that felt fresh. None of the gimmicks felt overused or underused, but instead felt like a pleasure to have accompanying the level design.

Graphics
9 / 10
There is a little clashing here and there, but ultimately the graphics look really nice. Everything is either custom or edited a lot, which helps with this game's creative concepts.

Sound
10 / 10
Abducted Toad has a very nice selection of sound effects, and they go very well with the various MIDIs you can find. There are also a few unique soundtracks in here too, and I even found myself humming a time or too to the excellent melodies. There's nothing wrong that I can point out in the sounds.

Replay
10 / 10
Oh heck yes. Abducted Toad offers a lot more to do once you beat the main game, as well. There are various discs that you can find throughout the levels that tell you more about the zany characters that are found on planet Purpulis. There's a secret mode you unlock after beating the game once, which I won't spoil what it does, and an entire new bonus world to explore. You'll be playing this game for quite a while!

Final Words
9 / 10
Abducted Toad takes a direction that I haven't seen a lot of, and it succeeds with its fun and unique environment in outer space. I definitely recommend that you download it when possible.
