General Commentary and Game Overview
Toadette Strikes is an outstanding sequel to an already outstanding game by the name of Toad Strikes Back. Both of these games look gorgeous from an artistic viewpoint, and in terms of gameplay, both are heavily inspired by Doki Doki Panic (and, by default, the American version of Super Mario Bros. 2); both Toad and Toadette control very similarly to how they would in DDP/SMB2, and you attack enemies and get prizes mostly by plucking veggies and other items from the ground.

But aside from these things I've mentioned, are these games really worth downloading and playing? Well, guess now is the time to find out! This is my review of BOTH Toad Strikes Back and Toadette Strikes.

Pros +The custom/edited sprites and attention to detail makes both of these games look gorgeous.

+The music (and sound design in general) is very enjoyable to hear.

+The SMB2-esque gameplay mixed with Yoshi's Island-esque Yoshi physics and original bosses makes these games fun to play.

Cons +It's kind of annoying that your health doesn't refill itself when you re-enter a hub world and even when you load a game.

Impressions
Gameplay
8 / 10
Both Toad and Toadette control a lot like they would if they were BOTH in DDP/SMB2, and not just Toad. The only real problem I have with the way they control in these games is that they're both a bit too fast for my taste; I know Toad was the fastest in SMB2 (and so naturally, Toadette would be the same), but these guys actually move about twice as fast as Toad does in SMB2. This is both a pro AND a con because while the faster movement makes it faster to complete levels, it also causes me to run into certain obstacles from time to time.

Graphics
10 / 10
Both games look outstanding; the attention to detail in every room and custom/edited graphics make the game look fresh and unique. Personally, I will never get sick of 8-bit and 16-bit sprites in fangames, just so long as the developers take a note from these games (and others) and make the graphics look fresh and unique. In other words, don't be a Hello clone (or any of his own games, for that matter).

Sound
10 / 10
The music is a joy to listen to; the remixes (and maybe original music? I'm not entirely sure) fit the levels very well, and are a joy to listen to. I kinda wish these games used OGG files so I can listen to the music while working on projects. Oh, well. The sound effects are also very nice; most of them are ripped from NES and SNES Mario titles, and some of THOSE sounds are edited (the cherry sound, for example, has a reverb effect). All in all, the sound design is fantastic.

Replay
8 / 10
The SMB2 style of gameplay and unique graphics (and of course, the music!) makes both of these games a fun time for all, so the replay value in both games is great. I just wish these games had optional distractions like minigames or concept artwork galleries or something to give you something else to do if for whatever reason you get sick of playing the main adventure. Ah, well. The main adventures themselves are still fun.

Final Words
9 / 10
Both Toad Strikes Back and Toadette Strikes are fun games to play. They're not perfect, but they're definitely worth your time. Give them a shot!
