SMRPG Toadstool (From Super Mario Adventures Comic) By: Yakibomb
Peach Toadstool in overalls, from the Super Mario Adventure comic series.

Fun fact: Her final spell, Psych Bomb, is actually a reference to Super Mario Adventures, the comic where the idea for this sheet came from!

Sprites were made for "Plumber's Parasitic Plant Problem!", a ROM hack for "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars".

Hey, that's pretty adorable!

Sometimes I wonder how people manage to replicate SMRPG's prerendered style...

I saw these sprites in your topic and they're better than I would imagine. Perhaps I could do something similar to this sprite style one of these days.

Nice work!

Thanks, I'm glad you all like it! If you have any requests for things in SMRPG style, don't be afraid to ask.

Also, I forgot the battle portrait. Whoops!

I've admittedly never tried before, but I imagine replicating SMRPG's style would be fairly manageable considering the color limitations on 16-bit sprites. They're also not quite as detailed as the sprites from, say, the original DKC trilogy.

Yes, you are completely right. Like any style I'd say it takes a little bit of time to get used to, with all the different artistic attributes tied to it. With the color limitation it's actually very manageable. There are a fair amount of details on the official sprites even with the color limit. However, some things to note, some of the sprites don't have the same level of detail as other sprites in the game. If you take a look the Heavy Troopa, and compare it to say, the Sky Troopa (Paratroopa in this game), you'll notice the shading is actually handled differently. To me, custom SMRPG sprites are actually much easier to replicate with this knowledge, because of the inconsistencies in the game already.

The thing I always have to keep in mind is my sprites will never be "perfect", it'll always have to land at "good enough."
