General Commentary and Game Overview
Super Mario: Hard Game is a recreation of the first level of the original Super Mario Bros., drastically increasing the enemy count while reducing the fun count.

Pros + Small download size
+ It's only one level long

Cons - No originality whatsoever
- Derives all challenge from needless duplication of enemies
- Game is actually very easy

Gameplay
1 / 10
This game has taken the Hello SMB1 Engine and basically changed nothing, except adding about ten times as many enemies to the demo level. Since you start with firepower, you just mash the Ctrl key until all the enemies are toast. If you have some kind of anger problem or just like seeing Goombas get defeated, you might enjoy this game. Otherwise, you'll be relieved when it's over.

The moral of the story: Making quality fangames typically takes dozens of hours of hard work. You can't fiddle with someone else's engine for an hour and come up with a game that people will enjoy playing.

Graphics
2 / 10
Again, little has been changed from the Hello SMB1 Engine, although you do see a few Giant Land enemies from Super Mario Bros. 3 mixed in with the SMB1 enemies. Some of the items have been replaced with Black Squirrel's much-used tiles, creating an ugly, unoriginal hodgepodge of clashing graphics.

Sound
3 / 10
The author didn't even bother to change the music playing in the background (an MP3 of the All-Stars SMB theme) or add any new sound effects. Still, it's a nice song, even if a MIDI would've made more sense.

Replay
1 / 10
Since the game is just one level long, and a badly-designed level at that, I see no reason anyone would ever want to play this game more than once.

Final Words
1 / 10
This is a profoundly unoriginal, uninteresting, and uninspired fangame.

adding about ten times as many enemies to the demo level.

Actually, it's 9000 x the normal amount of enemies in the demo level.
