General Commentary and Game Overview
This is really THE Super Mario Fangame, worthy of its title. It has everything good that original Mario games have, and also a new playful graphical style that makes it look unique.

Pros + Playful and neat graphical style.
+ Sounds like you expect a Mario game too do.
+ Clever course layout.
+ Lasts for a good while, with save ability.

Cons - Title screen and map don't match the graphics in game.
- A few moments of trial and error.

Gameplay
9 / 10
Courses:
The course layout is about as good as in Super Mario World, there are more pitfalls so the platforms pose more of a challenge, but sometimes it's hard to know if it's just a way down or a real pitfall, so there's a bit of trial and error there.

The course design also feature some original stuff, like a Lakitu that throws bouncing Spinys that almost blast from place to place, and big boulders that roll over platforms like seen in Super Mario 64, but now two-dimensionally. And the layout is always so clever so you have to employ a small strategy to pass each place, I'd guess Kjell is a really good game designer.

Control:
The control is very responsive and Mario runs quickly with a nearly constant speed, which makes it easy to control.

The jump height is always the same, unusually, but since the controls are so responsive it feels perfectly right. It's also possible to drop immediately during a jump by pressing down. And for high platforms, the reverse jump from Super Mario 64 is available, by swiftly reversing direction and then flipping up into air. The time of reversing is extremely short though, so I failed at times when I was sure I'd be able do it as an evasive maneuver.

It's also possible to slide on walls to double jump, by pressing towards the wall, it works pretty smoothly.

So the controls are very good, even if not perfect.

Graphics
8 / 10
The title screen and the world map look quite homemade and playful, so it doesn't really do the game itself justice, since especially the characters and the levels have a really neat look, not overworked but still so nice it looks really good.

The grass and mushrooms of the first area have a distinct cartoon style, while the more detailed cracks in the ground in the tree area make it look more realistic. The dry desert have both those styles and there's a cold mountain course with shimmering snow. To summarize, the graphics always look interesting and never gets tiring.

The Mario sprite looks more Italian than Nintendo's Mario, and seems more like a hero because he's standing with his fists like he's ready for action anytime. The animation looks slightly stiff but it actually gives the game its own style and I like it.

Sound
10 / 10
In the first couple of levels the music sounds extremely happy, and kind of suits Mario's alert appearance. And when getting underground there's a catchy remix of the course 1-2 in the original Super Mario Bros.

Sound effects are as good as they can be, sounds like you'd expect a real Mario game to sound. Actually, many of the sounds are from Super Mario 64, so prepare yourself for a lot of "wohoo!" and "jippii!", haha.

Replay
6 / 10
There are save slots because the game is quite long, it took me three hours to get all the way past the last boss. So the game lasts for a good while. Replay value exists because the controls are responsive and the course layout is good, but there's not much new to discover.

Final Words
8 / 10
Playful graphics, responsive control and phenomenal course layout are just a few good features of this Super Mario Fangame, but there are so many details that make this game good, that a review can’t mention them all. The only drawbacks are a few moments of trial and error, which we Mario players excel at anyway :D
