General Commentary and Game Overview
In case you haven't been clued in yet, NSMB2 is not exactly what it appears to be. It's a psychedelic thrill ride that just happens to feature Toad and some Mario-style platforming.

Pros The game throws delightful surprises at its players non-stop. And I mean non-stop. This game is insane.

Cons As far as gameplay goes, the game doesn't really stand out aside from its--forgive me for ever calling it this--gimmick.

Impressions
Gameplay
8 / 10
Okay, so here's the lowdown: this ain't your daddy's Super Mario Bros. 2. This is a high-octane, on-narcotics, in-your-face parody of everything Mario and a whole lot more. The gameplay is nothing spectacular, but hell, the game throws so much goodness at you I guarantee you WILL NOT NOTICE.

Graphics
9 / 10
Outstanding. Awesome trippy effects, most of which I won't spoil simply because the element of surprise is the key to this whole game. The use of graphics here is pure brilliance, plain and simple.

Sound
9 / 10
Any game that has "Papagenu" from Tenacious D's "Pick of Destiny" is an instant win, but aside from that, the original soundtrack blows conventional Mario midi-turds out of the water.

Replay
6 / 10
All right, maybe you won't go back again. Realistically, the replay value of this game is very limited--unless you consider the comic gold of showing it to friends and family.

Final Words
9 / 10
This is a delicious bit of funky psychedelics that kicks traditional fangaming in the seat of its pants. And boy does it do it well.

Sometimes I just open the game and minimize it just to hear the music. xD
