General Commentary and Game Overview
Okay, so I saw that Koops made a 3D fangame before this, also LM themed. Prior to that, he became somewhat infamous for spouting crap game after crap game, so I wasn't looking forward to this. And to my surprise...? Nothing. It was exactly as I imagined: really boring and partially broken. And this is coming from the guy who's sole game on the site (for now anyways) got a 3/10. Do what you will with that.

Pros It MIGHT be an improvement over the first
It's a complete game

Cons Slow movement
Repetitive gameplay and layout design
Little to no music
Really lackluster experience
And many more...

Impressions
Gameplay
2 / 10
I'll admit, he seemed to have improved the controls, if we're to go by reviews from the last game and what he put in the description. Unfortunately, this doesn't even begin to make up for the extremely slow and dragging movement that Luigi has. I understand this is supposed to be like, a horror game or something, but did you even try to adjust the speed a teeny bit? Oh, but what's worse is the fact that this game is REPETITIVE. I cannot stress that enough. It's boring. It repeats itself over and over again. It gets old fast, and has absolutely nothing to make it feel fresher. Now, I didn't go through the whole game, but I got my impression of this about 20 minutes in: it's slow and dragging on way too much. Oh, and guess what? You have no idea what you're doing at first. It doesn't help you can't really make out anything, but I'll elaborate on that in the next section.

Graphics
1 / 10
For a 3D game? Awful. Any smooth surfaces are clunky and look odd, the TOADS (and on that note, the 1ups that you occasionally find) are bizarrely deformed, the textures clash often, and the special effects are broken. No, seriously. Glass breaking? It's instant and you can barely see the broken glass. Lightning outside? The "effect" scrabbles across the screen, making it look like someone accidentally put a cut up white bed-sheet over you for half a second. Lame.

Sound
1 / 10
What's worse than horrible graphics and effects? Why, terrible sounds! SOMEHOW, he forgot to equalize the sound effects. The result? Every single sound effect has a completely different volume! Some of them are soft and barely audible, while others will screech through my speakers, i.e. the item pick up and the ladder climbing, respectively. Music? Pfft, what music? You mean that ONE tune that plays on a 6 second loop quietly downstairs or where ever? Sure, there may be some other music later in the game, but if it gets boring after a good few minutes, what's the point?

Replay
1 / 10
I wish I could give this a 0. I really do. There is absolutely NO ONE on this planet who would play this garbage for more than a couple of minutes. I hate to be harsh, yes, but it's the truth! Why would anyone waste their time going through this dull game again? I barely made it through half way before I quit!

Final Words
1 / 10
KoopaKingdom strikes again with yet another poor and uninteresting fangame. It might have been decent, had it not been so boring.

Ow-ow, you're so evil!

>>Awful. ... What's worse than horrible graphics and effects?

So awful? At least, this game has an interest: it has atmospere, it's in 3D (which is hard to program), it has lightning effect, it has difficulty choose.

>>Unfortunately, this doesn't even begin to make up for the extremely slow and dragging movement that Luigi has.

Slow movement? It is the part of an atmosphere: mansion, monsters, one small flashlight, one life... and slow movement - as a result.

>>There is absolutely NO ONE on this planet who would play this garbage for more than a couple of minutes.

You asked EVERYONE on this planet or this is just your opinion? Mixing facts and opinions is one of the standarts in journalism. If you do so, the review cannot be objective. At all.

I equalized the sound but I did notice that it sounds "HORRIBLE" on some computers and much better on others. Things are expected to be blocky when it's made in Game Maker unless you want a bunch of model files beside the game slowing the game down.

Oh wow, TTMG. Where do I begin?

>>So awful? At least, this game has an interest: it has atmospere, it's in 3D (which is hard to program), it has lightning effect, it has difficulty choose.

He made this with a premade engine if I recall correctly. Lightning? Yes, it would be impressive. If it were done right. Moving on,

>>Slow movement? It is the part of an atmosphere: mansion, monsters, one small flashlight, one life... and slow movement - as a result.

BAWWWWWW ATMOSPHEREEEEE LAWLAWLAWL. Problem? It doesn't work with this game at all. It gets BORING. You can't defend that if it's not fun to play.

>>You asked EVERYONE on this planet or this is just your opinion? Mixing facts and opinions is one of the standarts in journalism. If you do so, the review cannot be objective. At all.

For this one, you really confused me. I'm just going to say "wow" and brush it off. Ever heard of a hyperbole? Yeah.

I just went by the fact that it said "Full Game" on the fangame's page, so I'm not sure either.

EDIT: Oh, misread that. Still, I don't think model files will "slow down" the game any. They look pretty bad anyways, not like they take up that much space...

This was an edit of a tutorial. Of course there's 3D. The lightning TAKES AWAY from the supposedly spooky atmosphere.

Speaking of which, there's no atmosphere! Mansion, yes, but monsters aren't even present! The flashlight's a useless tool!

He doesn't even NEED to ask everyone because we all know.

<sarcazm>Oh sorry, I'm so stupid, I don't know anything about hyperbole.</sarcazm>
You know, when I made my first game (it was something look like an arcanoid) and gave it to play some people, thay said, "Impressive!" (and I don't lie). But it was million times worse than this game. Though it was made according to the official tutorials.
Why did I say that? Because using hyperbole is not correct sometimes. And, "Yeah".

EDIT: And sorry again, I don't critique your marks, I just comment them.

I never exaggerated anything

To be fair, maybe someone would play this and enjoy it, seeing as it's not out of the realm of possibility. The key difference here being: this game just lacks quality in general. It's slow-paced to the point of being unfun and has nothing that makes you feel like you've accomplished anything at all, like ghosts or boss fights (well, that second one's assuming there are no monsters whatsoever in the game). Basically, anyone can play and enjoy a crappy game, simply by overlooking it's flaws. What am I trying to say though? That doesn't mean it has no flaws. In fact, it has way too many! I've already talked about them in the review, and I'm a person who can't overlook this many flaws frankly. It ruins the fun of playing it!

Another standard of journalism is actually knowing what you're talking about, which you clearly do not

What do you mean? I don't know journalism's standards? Or I don't know the game?
[hide]Oh, why did I even register there? |>_<|[/hide]

Perhaps if you could take criticism you'd be more willing to stay but oh well :/

I meant that

A) The whole point of a review is to share your opinion which is by definition subjective, so there's no such thing as a truly objective review. So when you essentially say "journalism means being completely objective in your review" you clearly have no idea what the flying heck you're talking about.
B) Different people have different writing styles and this one happened to use hyperboles and trust me when I say you're the first person I've ever seen complain about such a thing because nobody else honestly cares.
C) You clearly realize it's his opinion yet you seem to take offense to it and aren't bothering to try seeing it from his point of view.
D) Why are you taking this so seriously? This is a Mario Fangaming website, not everything needs to be held to fantastic "journalistic standards" that you're making up on the spot.

You don't have to agree with Vitiman but Christ on a bike don't be stupid about it
