General Commentary and Game Overview
A short but simple game. Contains some elements from Paper Mario and a few from Super Paper Mario. The game has a simple story in which Bowser kidnaps the Princess in her castle once again and Mario must traverse the Mushroom Kingdom to save her from his tyranny. While some of the vital Paper Mario elements are missing (such as the RPG-style battle system), some do exist such as the hammer and spinning. The gameplay isn't perfect and there are some problems here and there but overall the game isn't too bad.

Pros - Contains some Paper Mario elements as well as a few new elements.
- Contains 3 different worlds with different enemies.
- Some boss ideas are a bit creative.

Cons - Story is quite small, simple and unoriginal.
- Graphics feel slapped on and the images are stretched.
- Sometimes concepts and enemies aren't introduced well.
- Boss battles are repetitive. You do the same thing many times to defeat a boss.
- A lack of different enemies. You encounter the same ones many times throughout the game.
- Some other minor problems such as Mario's movement not being perfect and being able to get stuck on walls.

Impressions
Gameplay
6 / 10
Some gameplay mechanics have been replicated from the original Paper Mario quite well (such as spinning). But there are quite a few annoying bugs as well. For example, Mario gets stuck in solid objects if he is close to them. There are no major issues with the gameplay, however.

Graphics
4 / 10
All of the graphics are pretty much from Paper Mario, but they feel lazily slapped onto the game and are very bland. Nothing is new and some places lack good graphics. For example, Peach's Castle contains no background at all. Also, images have been very badly stretched.

Sound
7 / 10
Music is a bit loud but apart from that it was pretty good. Most of the music is from the original Paper Mario. MP3's should be used in place of MIDI's to improve the overall quality of the songs.

Replay
6 / 10
The game isn't too bad and it's pretty short but at the same time there is nothing that will motivate you to play the game again.

Final Words
6 / 10
A short but simple game. There are a few minor problems with the mechanics and some elements feel slapped on, but overall the game is playable. It's not perfect but at the same time it isn't too bad either.

Mp3's take up a lot of space, MIDIs don't, a Mario game doesn't need a good story. Super Paper Mario didn't have the RPG battles. It's a first game. It doesn't need to be great.

Thanks for clarifying about the MP3/MIDI part. I can understand why he probably didn't add MP3s now.

However, I still think my other points are valid. A Mario story shouldn't really need a good game - true. I didn't deduct any major points for that. However it would be nice at least if people did come up with original stories, especially for RPG style games like this one. It makes the game more interesting to play, at least in my opinion.

I did not mention anything wrong about not having RPG battles - I merely commented on that while giving an overview of the game. I understand that adding RPG style battles is not an easy task and not very necessary either.

I understand that this is a first game but I don't base my gameplay on how much experience the author has with whatever tool was used to make game. I try to treat it as a 'real game' and provide the author with as much constructive criticism as I can, if you get what I mean.
