My entry for Minigame Comp. #9. It's a survival game where you play as Paper Mario and you're avoiding fire. The controls are explained in-game. I've also included the source code (made in GM7), which is mostly commented.

It's pretty cool, but is there any particular reason the game runs really, REALLY slow?

I don't really know. It might be the surfaces... I'll upload a new version soon that doesn't use them. (Just in case you don't know what surfaces are: they're how I blurred Mario and a had a subtle distortion effect.)
